Why have these two when they could do the same:

Or these two that again could do the same:

Thanks all for giving time in maintaining this excellent website.

I've one problem to report -

Couple of my friends have tried to create login ids on the expatica site in the last 2-3 days. However after registering they didn't receive any confirmation email till date even after "resending confirmation mail" n number of times. I also have tried this and no emails are coming.. Without getting confirmation emails, they can't use expatica forum..so pls. I request you to forward this problem to the admins of this forum / website for the necessary action.

I have seen that a recent change to the PM permissions has caused some confusion. By way of clarification, it is not necessary to make 100 posts to gain PM privileges, as some members have suggested. In fact it is only necessary to make 1 post to be promoted to the 'members' group (your users status will be upgraded the next time you log in).

This measure was taken against the large and increasing amount of spam PMs that were being sent out via the Expatica forums. We did not wish to advertise this too widely for fear that the spammers would simply adjust. But it has proved very effective against spam programmes that create a bogus profile and then proceed to send out PM spam to our members.

The idea was that the permissions would be changed instantaneously. However it turned out that another log in was required by the user in order for them to be promoted to the 'members' group where PMing is allowed. So to those who had been sending out PMs and then suddenly found that they couldn't, may I express my apologies for the confusion.

I have almost completed my move from Seattle to Amsterdam. I am back in Seattle right now going through the last of my stuff, which, after 53 years of pack rat living, is quite an accomplishment! I have it narrowed down to about 10 boxes plus about 20 pieces of framed artwork. Does anyone have shipping advice for me? I hate to just start cold calling without some personal recommendtions, and this site is VERY cumbersome when it come to looking through search results. So while I'm sure this topic has been discussed many times before, I just can't find the threads, and would very much appreciate any advice you all have ....

This type of forum is easier to use. The last posts are easier to find and a user control panel is also a must. Have a look and see if you can integrate these features in to Expatica.

My personal thoughts are: option #2. It includes those who have valuable insight to the Expat experience and those who are seeking that insight. Opening it up to anyone allows individuals with their own personal agendas and no real interest in the Expat community to post here.
