having spent half of my life abroad, I really got upset with the fact, that I was never able to take part in regional or national elections and felt discriminated on grounds of the nationality of my passport. That's why I am now about to set up with a NGO the platform www.VOTE-EXCHANGE.org.

It will a web-based platform where citizens in Europe trade their voting opportunities for regional and national elections and excert, independtly from their nationality, their common desire to politically participate in the making of parliaments and governments in their country of residence.

This non-profit and voluntary project is in its very beginning and I hope to find some inspiring ideas from this diverse community to get this project rolling.

Who can apply?
The program is open to applications from young professionals and current students with an active interest in Cultural Diplomacy between European countries.

What will the Weeklong Seminar involve?
The program for the Weeklong Seminar will involve seminars and workshops with experts on relations within the European continent including academics, politicians, journalists, and practitioners from other civil society organisations. During this week you will have the opportunity to meet with these figures, discuss key issues with them, and take part in structured group discussions with the other participants.

What is the aim of the Weeklong Seminar?
The Seminar aims to inform the participants about the field of Cultural Diplomacy and its importance today, raise awareness of key issues in the relations between European countries, create a network between the Seminar participants, and give them creative ideas and support for future initiatives they can organise.

What happens after the Seminar?
After completing the Weeklong Seminar the participants become members of the Cultural Diplomacy in Europe Forum. They are then supported by the ICD in conducting research, in organising and developing leadership initiatives, and are invited to join the ICD Online Forum where they can network with the other Young Leaders from around the world. The Forum activity is aimed at creating sustainable initiatives that bring to the countries of the European region closer together.

While one can read daily news about how economies around the world are sinking deeper into recession and affecting locals’ lives, information on how expats are coping is harder to come by. A short poll conducted by Expatica shows most expats have been affected by the financial crisis.

This survey hopes to address this through examining how expats have been affected by the global financial crisis, both professionally and financially. In addition, it will look at the differences and challenges foreigners might face in their careers upon moving abroad.

I think it's pretty cool, you can get a discount (20 %) of each attraction or restaurant. The only thing you need to do is to print out the voucher. So I hope some of you originally come from or lived in London and can give me more "insider-tipps", where it's cheap to go ?! (especially attractions)
