Americans Wake Up

This is a 'say-it-like-it-is' article by Peggy Noonan from the WSJ. I think its time for a change from "change" and many other Americans are feeling the same way. President Obama's approval rating is in the basement. People are fed up. Rightfully so.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405...1430926354.html

America and health care

Let's hope Obama pulls it off in his speech on Wednesday, and eventually gets health care bills passed in both houses.

I think he can do it (because after all the Democrats have both houses), but it won't be easy. He has to stay away from specifics because it's obvious that anything specific will be grossly misrepresented by his opponents. He also has to somehow offer constant reassurance to the nervous majority, who seem blinded by the shrill nonsense coming at them through their TVs. But at the same time he can't promise too much.

It's sad and perplexing that the US has so far been unable to introduce universal health care for its citizens. This is hardly a left v. right issue. I mean, every other modern country has been able to make it happen. The strange thing is that the Americans already have government insurance programmes. It seems Americans don't really understand how health care works in their own country. Some of them apparently don't see it as an expansion of Medicare, but as the end of Medicare.

But I suppose I'm glossing over how difficult it was to introduce universal health care in the UK and other countries. It won't be an easy thing to take on the insurance industry and the medical profession.

Still, it has to be done. It seems so self-destructive for America to stay on this course.

And the debate is based on so much ignorance. What is that all about? The vitriol in the American media on this issue is creepy and depressing. To non-Americans it is practically incomprehensible. You'd think that after two decades of cultural warfare the Americans would get exhausted and be able to compromise on some of these basics. Is there anything they can agree on anymore?

Five gun attack dead named by MoD

These incidents will continue....
The situation in Afghanistan is only going to get worse.
When I see politicians supporting this war I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
On a positive note, more and more people are starting to see right thru the BS.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8343531.stm

The five British soldiers killed in an attack by an Afghan police officer have been named by the Ministry of Defence.

They were Warrant Officer Darren Chant, Sgt Matthew Telford, Guardsman James Major, Acting Cpl Steven Boote and Cpl Nicholas Webster-Smith.

A "rogue" Afghan policeman has been blamed by the UK military, but PM Gordon Brown has said the Taliban could have infiltrated the police.

The dead soldiers had been mentoring Afghan police in Helmand province.

WO1 Chant, Sgt Telford and Guardsman Major were from the Grenadier Guards, while Acting Cpl Boote and Cpl Webster-Smith were from the Royal Military Police.

They had been working and living in a compound at a national police checkpoint in the Nad Ali district for the last two weeks.

Six British servicemen and two Afghan National Police (ANP) officers were also injured in Tuesday's attack.

Taliban link probed

"While we are assembling evidence, the Taliban have claimed responsibility for this incident," Mr Brown told MPs in the Commons on Wednesday.

"It may be that the Taliban have used an Afghan police member or they have infiltrated the Afghan police force and that is what we've got to look at," he said.

Gordon Brown addresses MPs on Afghanistan shootings
However, BBC Kabul correspondent Ian Pannell later said the Taliban had not admitted carrying out the attack.

Mr Brown said training of Afghan police remained an "essential element" of the strategy in Afghanistan and would not be stopped because it was "what the Taliban fears most".

"We will have to increase the number of police but it's clear we will have to increase the quality of police as well," he told the Commons.

"I would not want to draw conclusions about all the Afghan police from one single incident," he added.

William Ferrand, the uncle of Sgt Telford, said his nephew had "absolutely loved" his job training Afghan forces.

He added: "Everybody knows what a wonderful lad he was. It has devastated all of us."

Sgt Telford, of Grimsby, leaves a wife, Kerry, and two sons aged nine and four.

Paul Thundercliffe taught Guardsman Major at the Lindsey School in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire.

"He had a cheeky smile and he always wanted to make you understand where he was coming from," he told the BBC.

"He was very forthright and as he went through the school he just wanted to get better and better at everything that he did."

Swine flu vaccine

Just passing on some info I received:

Today, 21st October, the swine flu vaccine will be rolled out in mass across the UK
Here is the declared ingredient list for the UK version of the vaccine, Pandermix

THE INGREDIENTS (PANDEMRIX VACCINE)

THE RECIPE
Adjuvent: Squalene 10.68mg (Linked to Guillane Barre (Gulf War) syndrome and illegal in the UK)
Alpha-Tocopherol 11.86mg
Polysorbate 80 (Tween)4.86mg

OTHER INGREDIENTS
Octoxinol 10 (this is a contraceptive)
Sodium Chloride
Disodium Phospate
Potassium dihydrogen Phospate
Potassium Chloride
Magnesium Chloride
Thiomersol (MERCURY) (strongly linked to autistim spectrum neurological disorders, and removed from all other vaccines in the UK since 2003)
Water for Injections

SAFETY CONCERNS
Neurodegenerative and Autoimmune Illness

There is much resistance in the scientific community to its use at this stage, not least as it has been rushed into production amidst accusations of carelessness if not downright negligence. Baxter International, one of the companies supplying the UK, are themselves currently the subject criminal charges after having distributed 72 kgs of swine flu vaccine tainted with Live H5N1 or Avian Flu.
Currently, more than 60% of UK medical professionals have said they will not be taking it.
In Germany, chancellor Merkl last week announced that although the ordinary population will get a version similar to ours, the cabinet and other high ranking officials will get a very different one.
The goverment has granted companies supplying the vaccines, immunity from prosecution for any adverse reactions.
And people in those companies have said that they will not be taking the vaccine.

The swine flu vaccine programme represents a gigantic financial opportunity for these companies.
In these times of financial hardship, is it perhaps an opportunity that could outweigh issues of safety and efficacy?

Before agreeing to an untested and potentially dangerous substance being put into your body, or those of your children, do some research.

Ten Things You're Not Supposed to Know about the Swine Flu Vaccine
http://www.naturalnews.com/026717_swine_fl...lu_vaccine.html

Al Qaida works for US

Al Qaida exists where US intelligence dominates. Al Qaida in US when Bush need excuse to activate Mid-east war. That is 911 attack. Al Qaida is everywhere in Iraq now to bomb innocent civilians when US occupies Iraq. Strange to say, under the Saddam regime, there is no Al Qaida. Al Qaida seems only exist where the regime being controlled by US. So we see no Al qaida in Syria and Iran. But they appears to attack ordinary people when the government either is controlled by US intelligence or supported by US intelligence. That's why you see Al Qaida attacks in US, in Afghanistan, in Pakistan, in Iraq (after it is occupied by US). Because where they are protected by the intelligence, worked as a whip to beat people. When government want money and power, they beat the people with this whip (Al Qaida terror attack) People feel hurt then give up their civil rights and money to the government.

Petro-dollar, the cause of Iran war

556. Petro-dollar, the cause of Iran war (7/4/08)

People think the nuclear ambition of Iran is the reason for Iran war. That is only right on Israel's part. For US part, it is petro-dollar.

US dollar is appointed currency in oil trading. Because the oil trade is a huge business, a large amount of dollar is locked up in that trade. That money is called petro-dollar. Why it is so important to US? Because it acts as a long term none interest loan The prosperous US economy partly was based on the petro-dollar - a long term loan without interest. Let me depict it in this way:

US bought a house from Japan (whom represents the oil customers of Iran) for one million dollars. US also bought another house from France (whom represents other oil customers of OPEC) for one million dollars. Japan and France use these two million dollars as fund to buy oil. The money was used in oil trading circle and never back to US. US enjoys the two houses almost free. He doesn't have to pay monthly mortgage payment. Not a penny for interest, nor for principle. All the cost was the printing of a green back paper. However, that green back paper - petro dollar, is still a debit note. How long is it? So far it's more than forty years - since dollar became the appointed oil trade currency.

But suddenly, Iran refuses to accept dollar. Japan has to ask US to exchange that one million dollar into Euro or yen. What US can do is: 1. to get the dollar back by export more merchandise. But he is not able to. He has a trade deficit already. 2. To get the dollar back with gold or foreign currency reserve. But he hasn't that much reserve. 3. To lock up that extra one million dollar in US Bond by raising the interest rate to attract the buyer. But he unwilling to do it. There is a sub-prime crisis in real estate market. Any interest increase will further devalue the house. Feds holds a large amount of real estates in my case, they don't allow such thing to happen. So to solve the problem, they go to the fourth option. 4. By pushing up the oil price.

France (other oil consumption countries) keeps one million dollar as oil trading fund. How much does he need if the oil price doubled? Two million. Thus the one million dollar Japan abandoned is absorbed by France. That's why the oil price jumped like crazy in recent days - a tricky way to keep US dollar from collapsing.

US has to pay for high oil price too. Ordinary people bear the cost. But the high oil price will hurt the economy. The condition won't last long. So war on Iran is unavoidable.

Of course, US is a "democratic" country. It can't start a war because others refusing to use its currency. Then beware of another 911 style false flag attack.

We know there was an incident of live nuclear head weapons being carried over the continental US by a B-52 last August. There is attempt of dirty bomb attack in Houston this year.
Quote, "State of Emergency: The US in the Final Six Months of the George W. Bush Administration
by Lewis Seiler and Dan Hamburg
June 13, 2008 by CommonDreams.org
.......
Former National Security Agency analyst and naval intelligence officer Wayne Madsen has been in Houston investigating the Carnaby case at great personal risk. Madsen believes Carnaby was involved both in heading off a potential war with Iran (by leaking Mossad plans to assassinate Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah just days before Carnaby himself was killed) and in trying to forestall a potential terrorist attack on the port.
According to Madsen, “federal agents in Houston fear that ‘another 9/11-type part false flag’ attack is imminent, perhaps as early as July 4.”.......

http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/06/13/9596/

Another time factor for Iran war is the Olympic Game in August. China has interest in Iran. He is an oil customer of Iran. Olympic Game could be an extortion chip for China's support in Iran war.

Sheen Challenges 9/11 Truth Debunkers to Larry King Live Debate
Fri Sep 11, 2009 7:00pm EDT Email | Print | Share| Reprints | Single Page[-] Text [+]

Featured Broker sponsored link
'We're not hiding,' states Sheen as he calls out McCain, Hannity, Limbaugh and
O'Reilly

AUSTIN, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Appearing on The Alex Jones Show today to
discuss his video address to Barack Obama, Charlie Sheen has challenged those
who have publicly attacked him for speaking out on 9/11, particularly Meghan
McCain, Rush Limbaugh Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, to debate him on CNN's
Larry King Live.

Following the publication of Sheen's "20 Minutes With The President," a
fictionalized account of a meeting with Barack Obama in which Sheen implores
the President to reopen the investigation of 9/11 in light of the majority of
the 9/11 Commission members publicly denouncing the official story as a
deception, McCain attacked Sheen on ABC's top rated show The View, comparing
people who question 9/11 with holocaust deniers.

"I quoted Charlie Sheen yesterday about his experience with prostitutes, so
really you're the one I should be listening to about 9/11? . . . I am not
going to take my political advice from Charlie Sheen," stated McCain, daughter
of the former Republican nominee John McCain.

McCain's sophomoric reliance on attacking Sheen on the foundation of decades
old events in his personal life, while failing to address even one of the 20
pieces of evidence raised in his letter to Obama, is typical of the media
response to Sheen's challenge thus far.

Amongst the scoffers and debunkers, not one corporate media outfit has managed
to actually address a single point Sheen raised in his letter, resorting
instead to childish quips and badly researched proclamations.

A familiar theme arising out of such hit pieces is an effort to imply that
Sheen's questioning of the official 9/11 story is somehow an "outrage" and
hurtful to the family members of the victims, despite the fact that the
majority of victims' family members share the same questions.

Furthermore, claiming that people who doubt the government story are on par
with holocaust deniers completely ignores the fact that six of the ten 9/11
Commission members, along with scores of other highly credible former and
current government officials, intelligence professionals, military officials,
scientists, structural engineers and architects, and legal scholars have all
publicly questioned the official version of events behind September 11.

Fox News talking heads Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, as well as popular
radio host Rush Limbaugh, have also attempted to attack Sheen's credibility
while failing to discuss any of the subjects he actually raised.

In response, Sheen told The Alex Jones Show that he is challenging any one or
all of McCain, Hannity, Limbaugh or O'Reilly to a debate about 9/11 on CNN's
Larry King Live or any other television show in Los Angeles, adding that the
show must be broadcast live to prevent bias editing.

Should the debate go ahead, Sheen will be accompanied by Bob Mcilvaine, a 9/11
families representative who lost his son Robert in the attacks. Sheen
suggested that his adversary in the debate be accompanied by representatives
from Popular Mechanics, who have routinely sought to debunk questions
surrounding 9/11.

"Let's do it," Sheen told the Alex Jones Show Friday. "I issue the challenge
to debate Meghan McCain, Rush Limbaugh, Sen Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, bring them
all, Bob Mcilvaine and I will join you on Larry King Live and you guys bring
whatever you've got ... and we'll show up with the truth and we'll just see
how it goes - we're not hiding," added Sheen.

Watch the clip from The View at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yENcu5_7Mdk .

For media requests on this subject email sheen@infowars.com

The Alex Jones Show broadcasts live from Austin, TX from 11AM-3PM Central.
Alex Jones' show and websites infowars.com and prisonplanet.com are a focal
point and a forum where many prominent figures from academia, the political
world and Hollywood have spoken out about what really happened on September
11th.

*(PHOTO 72dpi: www.Send2Press.com/mediaboom/09-0908-CSheen_72dpi.jpg)

*(Photo Caption: Charlie Sheen.
BAE Systems faces bribery charges

I heard on Newsnight last night that the government said it'd been done to 'protect British jobs'.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Nothing to do with either being fckin greedy or protecting its shareholders then?
Not mentioned in this article is the fact that they also sold some fancy multi-million pound airforce/defence system to Tanzania who don't even have an airforce(I'll dig a bit deeper than the bbc for more on that)

Lying,cheating,greedy basterds.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8284073.stm
BAE Systems faces bribery charges

BAE Systems, the UK's biggest manufacturer, is facing bribery charges and a possible confiscation of between £500m and £1bn, the BBC understands.

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is expected to announce later that it wishes to prosecute defence giant BAE Systems for alleged bribery.

The case refers to allegations the UK firm paid out millions of pounds to win contracts from a number of countries.

BAE admitted last year that it had not always met the top ethical standards.

A separate investigation into BAE by the SFO was dropped in 2007 after it was decided that national security was at risk.

In that case, the SFO ended its investigation into a giant 1980s arms deal BAE secured from Saudi Arabia.

'Explosive investigation'

The latest SFO investigations are into contracts BAE won from countries including Tanzania, the Czech Republic, Romania and South Africa.

BBC business editor Robert Peston said the continuing probe was "the most explosive investigation into a British company that I have ever encountered".

He added that, while BAE would like to settle the case through a plea bargain, its management had a legal duty not to hand over cash or damage the reputation of the firm unless they were advised by their own lawyers that the SFO had an overwhelming case.

THE STORY SO FAR...
Allegations that BAE contracts have been won through bribery payments are not new
The biggest probe focused on a £43bn contract to supply more than 100 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. The deal began in 1985 but a National Audit Office investigation was suppressed in 1992
The SFO launched an investigation in 2004 into the allegations - including BAE running a "slush fund" that offered sweeteners to Saudi royals and their intermediaries in return for lucrative contracts
This was dropped two years later by Tony Blair after political pressure from the UK and Saudi Arabia. BAE always denied any wrongdoing
The BBC understands that any deal would involve BAE pleading guilty to charges of corruption and agreeing to pay a substantial sum in compensation - between £500m and £1bn.

Criminal charges would be brought under the 2001 Prevention of Corruption Act, but conviction would be decided by a judge without needing a crown court trial in front of a jury, he added.

A final decision on whether to proceed with criminal proceedings will have to be made by the Attorney General Baroness Scotland.

A BAE spokesman said the firm was working with regulators to help bring the investigation to an end, "providing access to people, information and premises whenever requested".

The firm is the UK's largest manufacturer - making everything from British Army kit to warships and planes. It has about 105,000 employees worldwide, including about 32,000 in the UK with customers in more than 100 countries.

Increasing the military presence

Does anyone actually beleive that increasing the military presence in Afghanistan is right ?
I'm getting more and more annoyed every time I hear warmongering politicians desperately trying to convince us that what they are deciding is right.
Its a complete and utter disgrace.
The war is being fought for huge corporations and industry(oil, gas, arms) not for freedom or the protection against any (hugely exaggerated)so-called terrorist threat to the people of any country.
When I hear them even mention 'our brave lads sacrificing thier lives' it makes me want to vomit.
Since when have these lying bastards ever reallly given a flying fck about its soldiers ?
They don't even equip the troops properly for a start!
Have they given ANY thought whatsoever about the families who will have to look after their sons and daughters who are and will continue coming back maimed or in coffins ? I don't think so.
And this 'alliance' with an Afghani government fraudulently elected,a puppet government who the West want in place....
The Taleban are not terrorists - they are a tribal army which has no interest outside Afghanistan.

The US & UK forces are there to secure the area so that they can build the oil and gas pipeline from Turkmenistan.
Opinions very welcome!
Thank You - I feel a bit better now.

Cynthia McKinneys speech at Paris Truth Rally

Cynthia McKinney (former US congresswoman and former presidential candidate) guest of honour at the Vers la Verite conference made the following speech.

Cynthia McKinney
Vers La Verité
Paris
October 10, 2009

President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize was not the only news yesterday. And in my opinion, it’s not even the biggest news. It’s not even the saddest news. But it does provide us with some critical information as we move forward. The three-part question for us, tonight however, is “What are we moving forward TO; is that the place we want to go; and if not, what do we do about it?

In other words, “What is our vision for the future and how do we define success?”

I have been and am still in deep pain over the institutional homicide of my aunt and in my grief, I’ve considered giving up.

But then, I wiped the tears from my eyes long enough to remember communities of people that I’ve been blessed enough to get to know, from Toronto, Canada to Cape Town, South Africa; from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Valdosta, Georgia, there are people struggling through their own pain, their own deep personal disappointments to reach a better place—not just for themselves, but for the global community of man. And I know deep in my own heart, as broken as it is, that I cannot give up. My brain tells me that the struggle for truth, justice, peace, and dignity is too important to lose because of heartbreak.

The one thing that probably best defines everyone in this room are our search for and activities on behalf of principles that are bigger than ourselves. We want our governments to tell us the truth; we want them to deliver justice; we want our global community to live in peace; and we want respect for the dignity of all humankind.

So if these are the ingredients of our vision, what tools do we need to produce the desired result?

Well, first of all, the desired result has to have definition.

I mentioned in one of my messages to a dear friend in response to the Nobel award to President Barack Obama that we needed to keep our eyes on the prize and then I erased it because I don’t think we’ve sufficiently defined what the prize is.

So there must be a small, cohesive, international group of rock-solid people feverishly working to redefine for all who want to be active, and a part of our vision, just what the prize is. And this “prize,” our vision, must be repeated and explained often so people can differentiate our vision, from their reality.

Here is where language becomes important. If we want policy instead of speeches, then this must be repeated early and often because what I’m alarmed by is that in the absence of us providing real definition, and there are reasons for that, people are beginning to think that a speech IS policy.
But, as I said earlier, there was a lot of news yesterday. Some of it even more important than the Nobel Peace Prize Award, but the award certainly overshadowed all other stories.

And I’m always searching for context. Because, as the U.S. military puts it, “perception management” is important. And we must understand the context of what happens and when it happens, in order to understand why.

I always say that we must see the invisible, hear the unspoken, and read the unwritten. That’s what some of the organizers of Vers La Verité were professionally trained to do, before they became whistleblowers, and now our leaders.

Now, what were some of those other interesting news items?

Well, at a Native American Lodge located next to Senator John McCain’s ranch, two people died and several others were hospitalized following a hazardous materials situation at the Sweat Lodge, which is like a spiritual retreat led by Native Americans. I’ve even been invited to participate in one upon my return to the U.S.

Now, I find this interesting and a story that should be followed up on and I will be doing that because I want to make sure there’s no bigger story hidden in an important cultural ritual of the Native Americans who are victims of a genocide in North America that continues to this day.

On the day that the Nobel Prize was announced, we also learned that the U.S. bunker buster bomb will be ready in a few more months.
This is the bomb that holds over 5,000 pounds of explosives and is designed to penetrate hardened facilities, including those underground. Some brilliant people in the U.S. even want to put nuclear tips on bunker buster bombs. However, in announcing the near deployment of the project that pays McDonnell Douglas to adapt the B-2 bomber so it can deliver the Boeing-made bomb to its intended target, the Pentagon press secretary said,

"The reality is that the world we live in is one in which there are people who seek to build weapons of mass destruction and they seek to do so in a clandestine fashion."

The article noted that the Obama Administration had not ruled out military action against Iran.

Another story noted that hours after winning the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, President Obama met with his military advisors about troop levels in Afghanistan. The troop increase requested by the U.S. Commander ranged, it is reported, from 10,000 to 60,000—although the top number isn’t listed in that news report. One has to go to another news item to see the true top number. At any rate, it seems that the choices confronting U.S. and European leaders is whether to increase the current 68,000 U.S. boots on the ground in Afghanistan or to merely increase the number of drone attacks. Decreasing death and destruction and bringing our young men and women home is not on the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s agenda for discussion.

The last article of note is about a restaurant in west Georgia that is using the “N-word” on its marquee to describe President Obama. It reminds me of the Atlanta area restaurant that put on its marquee that I was Buckwheat with Boobs. Now, those of you who are from the U.S. will know what that means and the depth of insult that was intended. The article notes that I’ve made this restaurant’s marquee, too. Both restaurant owners claim to not be racists and to be protected by free speech.

My point in including this particular news item is that we still have so far to go just in terms of our human relations. It is imperative that we do what we can to spread our message and our vision and reach those who can be reached.

Which brings me to who can be reached. Those with enough discernment to know that what is being pronounced from on high is not their reality. And rather than accept or discount the contradictions, we want them to join us and struggle for a better reality for everybody.

I am saddened beyond belief that on the day of the Peace Prize award, a struggling democracy in Honduras was besieged with U.S. supplied weapons and U.S.-trained paramilitaries and snipers in support of coup leaders over the democratically-elected people’s leaders. In fact, the latest dispatch from Honduras is that many of the snipers and paramilitaries—now descending on Honduras from all over Latin America—were trained in my home state of Georgia.

More and more people are experiencing cognitive dissonance and rightly so. Our leaders and respected organizations are lying to us! One friend and former Congressional Staffer of mine puts it this way: we need a democratic military instead of a militarized democracy.
The United States, with the help of its European and Asian allies maintains over 700 bases around the world. The number is increasing under President Obama.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said that we must combat racism, poverty, and militarism. Our movement cannot struggle against militarism and fail to address racism. We must be comprehensive and to racism, militarism, and poverty, we must now add gaining control of a media that will allow us to communicate to a broader community and not just within our small spheres, and regaining control of education so that people are not so dumbed down that they actually believe that war is peace, slavery is freedom, ignorance is strength, and lies are truth.

And if we are right, then others will join us. They will share with us their dreams and their passions and we will help to empower them.
Global resistance combined with local action, organization, vision, commitment, and resources will allow us to have significant victories in the future.

Vers La Verité understands that the foundation of all of this action, attainment of the prize, can only happen with truth as our foundation.
It’s already a brave new world, let’s get busy and make it ours!!!
