Hey, i'm 20, single, tall, gonna live in Antwerp for half a year.

Hopefully there won't be any racism against me from the gals there?

I know in some countries in Europe there DEFIN are...like Spain...

How is the night scene?

Hey,

Have been living in Antwerp for a year now. It's not the easiest town to meet people in, but joining a group activity here usually helps (a language class, dance class, etc).

There are loads of clubs in/outside the city. Personally, I prefer the quaint local bars and there are a few institutions that "dot" this town. And more than a few top quality restaurants.

Re: "racism" in Spain

I didn't experience any "racism" from girls in Spain, I hang out with a lot of Spanish in Brussels/Antwerp, and certainly don't think Spain is "racist".

btw I'm the Brown in the Asian wink.gif

I forgot to add, I'll be a UNi student at UA...so it might be a different scene?

I know of a few exchange students at UA. I take Dutch classes 3 nights/week @ UA. Obviously much much easier being a student here. I know of 2 exchange students @ UA, one Spanish and the other Portuguese and they usually hang out with other people from their own home countries, but it may not be representative of the general exchange student population here.

You need any other help, just shoot!

nice, I'm planning to take an intro Dutch course as well.

I speak French pretty fluently already.

What cities in/near Belgium would you recommend is best to party in? And where people aren't so insular?

Lille? Louvaine/Leuven? Seems Brussels is too business like.

I haven't been to Lille yet, but they have a cool theatre scene that I'd like to check out over a weekend.

I love Gent. It has a really cool alternate vibe. The nightlife there is more "student-ish". Which means the town is kicking Thu night 'caus students here go home on the weekend.

Brugges is a quaint medieval town that's interesting to visit. Cologne in germany has a nice vibe too, but Dusseldorf that's not far away from Koln has some great nightlife!

You haven't mentioned what kind of night life you like (Bars/Pubs/Clubs/mega big parties?)
