Hi all, Im hopeful that this post will receive more response than my first. I am moving to Brussels soon for a longterm assignment. It will be my first big move and I really have NO FURNITURE OR ELECRONICS of my own.

My company will pay for all shipping cost plus relocation payment. What are you r suggestions for buying furniture and electronics? Ive been warned that if my incoming shipment of furniture/electronics appears brand new I will likely be hit with the Belgian VAT tax, which is high.

Is it possible that I buy new furniture items here in US and take off all brand new tags so it doesnt lookk brandnew, or is this not enough?

Also, regarding a TV, I would like to buy a nice size flat panel plasma/lcd. I wonder though what use it is to buy a nice tv for Brussels if ill only get a few American stations. Does anyone know of a good cable/satellite service that provides many of the US's basic channels (fox/abc/nbc, etc..)? HOw expensive is it monthly? Will buying a tv here in US be pointless and it not work in Brussels?

OR, Computer companies like Dell sell large LCD monitors that are equipped to run internet and cable. Would it be smarter to get that and using internet to view many of my favorite shows? Will the LCD screen work in Brussels or no as well? I was reading somewhere on here about having a satellite service hooked up through your internet,,, has anyone used this service sucessfully?

Since my company is paying for shipping should I utilize this and ship as much as I can from US because it will be much cheaper than buying in Brussels?
