Hello, All:

My partner and I are seeking commercial space in Amsterdam proper for a small, specialized nonfiction bookstore---such areas as the Jordaan or Museumplein would be good---to open in Spring 2007. Living above it or next to it would, naturally, be ideal, so there's a residential component to this as well...how about living IN the bookstore?
Now that we have the dream, how to make it real? Do you recommend real estate agents or just trying dumb luck and handle it privately with landlords--if so, how is that done? How are such utilities as electric, water, and heat budgeted? Taxes? Zoning? I bet there is a publication out there that addresses just this subject. Ideas?
