I'll be starting work in May in Berchem. We're looking to rent at first. Family is hubby & me, 2 year old son, baby on the way, 2 dogs, 2-4 cats (2 might be adopted here). We would consider a 'suburban' town as well as a quieter city neighbourhood. I've gotten some recommendations re. the surrounding towns, but looking to find out more about which city neighbourhoods are decent to live with small kids.
