Hi,
i am taking up a job in Belgium shortly and want to buy a house there.
Any advice on how to get a mortgage as i have no banking history in Belgium or what restrictions do they have in place.

I can give you the contact of my bank manager (fortis) and my insurance person (axa) who can provide you with information that you need from two different perspectives as both offer mortgages. Let me know where to send their contact details to if interested. Both speak english

A good point of start is Immotheker (<a href="http://www.immotheker.be" Target="_BLANK">www.immotheker.be</a>).
it's an indenepndent agency that works as an intermediary between you and ca. 45 banks; they explain you the ins and outs of morgage in Belgium, find the bestsolution for you and don't charge you anything (they get a commission from the bank).
