hallo, i'm a spaniard (european sounds more appropriate) doing a PhD and travelling around mostly for work the rest of the time.
i would like to meet new people in Brussels (can speak French and a bit of Dutch). Two many books and work is not good for the brain.
(i'm 35 and around 1'70, 64 k.)
any suggestions?

Library, uhhmm. That sounds familiar. That is for working time. i'm not that crazy. We can ask MDM to have a look at.
About the colisseum, what kind of beasts can you find there?

As I've posted elsewhere, here are what I consider to be the top locations in Brussels to meet other expat thirtysomethings:
(1) Wednesday evenings at the market on place du Châtelain (Ixelles) starting from 6:30 PM onwards
(2) Thursday evenings at @seven at the Mirano Continental on chaussée de Louvain (St Josse) starting at 7:00 PM. <a href="http://www.at7.be" Target="_BLANK">www.at7.be</a>
(3) Friday evenings at Ralph's Bar on place du Luxembourg starting at 7:00 PM
You'll probably find the market on place du Châtelain and Ralph's friendlier. @seven has a nasty door policy and if you look like a toad they won't let you in.

Other grownup evening hangouts include:
(1) Mezzo, Borgval 18 in the center (1000 Brussels)
(2) the Level Bar, place du Châtelain 33 (Ixelles)
(3) Rosa Art Lounge, bd de Waterloo 36 (1000 Brussels) (<a href="http://www.rosa-artlounge.com" Target="_BLANK">www.rosa-artlounge.com</a>)
(4) Roxi, rue du Bailli 82 (Ixelles)
(5) Le Bazaar, rue des Capucins 63 (1000 Brussels)
(6) Khnopff, rue St-Bernard 1 (St Gilles)
Of course, keep in mind that my taste runs towards the trendy and the sophisticated. If, on the other hand, you're into the whole English/Irish pub scenes, you'll have to ask someone else!
