Hi guys, I have just signed up with a new telephone company which has been saving me about 30/40% on my phone bills. Its been brilliant for staying in touch with friends and family and you get extra discounts if the person you are calling also signs up!Lots of free call time available too! I've got my business on it and making great savings. If you want to know more about it just send me an email or reply to the post and I can contact you with the details. No charges involved, just a great way to cut down those nasty phone costs! Just wanted to share this with my fellow expats who probably spend as much time on the phone as me!

Suggest the use of Callserve - it cheap (do require a PC) and works pretty good. I call daily several Latin America countries from around in Europe...

Checkout this one: www.trendcall.com
Trendcall sell sim cards that allow you to receive calls in Europe for 20 Eurocents a minute.
Calling abroad from the Netherlands is also rather cheap.

I use 1649 sosts nothing to call within Netherlands, and 1 euro cent per minute for calling England - they are the cheapest as far as I know.

If you have downloaded skype it should be pretty much straight forward. The instructions, if any, will be on the web site, www.skype.com

Also the paid services are great; SkypeIN, where you buy a phone number in a country of choice (US, UK France,Australia etc...) and people call you at a local rate, while you pay a few cents a minute, And SkypeOUT, where you basically buy a discount calling credit and call any number from your computer at local rates. For example, 10 Euro wil go a looong way for those who call Australia a lot.

If you like skype, you may also want to try voipbuster. They offers free calls to several landlines in countries like the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, etc.
Then there also is woize, which allows you to get a Dutch (Amsterdam 020) landline VOIP number for 5 Euro.

I pay 0.18euros/min for calling Ireland on mobile from NL. And there are no "hidden" charges, everything is clean.
If you want more information on tariff rates in different countries, check out their website:
www.manifone.comoh, and you get free test credits...so its worth to try.
Cheers.
