I'm a big fan of short films and can perhaps help, though re: film more than TV. Just reply to this post.

hi.
so whats the film tv industry like out there. Are you from the Uk? Im moving there from london and would like to know if theres an enthusistic film scene out there. Im sure i will find out in time but it will be nice just to get a feel of things before i arrive so i know what to expect. I hope to get a film night going called future shorts which started in London and has now expanded throughout Europe.
whats your experience with film. Do you work in the media out there?

Kal,
Its not my job, but I am 'in my spare time' when I can find it! Promoting a human rights short.
The film scene here: not alot really, infact I am hoping to enter our film into other festivals in Europe and one in NL. One which looks great is being run by the BBC which we are preparing for now

Kal, I just entered Ludicia Macabrica (twisted tales) into the Koln film festival. She already won 2 or 3 awards outside of Europe. Hope she does well there
Think Londons better though, thats my last port of call.

The film industry here? well everyone is looking for sponsors I guess and thats like with everything outside of London, shame, as there are some really good directors and film crews out there.

Hi Kal,
I'm interested in connecting with people who are interested in Tv/film/radio projects. I currently work on the sound side of TV production, but want to do more on the visual and conceptual side as well. Was a film student ages ago before the advent of such wonderful tools as Final Cut Pro ;-)
The film industry here is mainly subsidized films or beach-party crap. There are, however, lots of opportunities to get things out there on cable TV and film festivals.
I don't think there's an enthusiastic film scene here so much, though there is a cult appreciation and there are many festivals. Film is one thing I don't feel the Dutch appreciate in the same way the Germans or French do, and old movies (especially black&white) are rarely shown here at all.
Anyway, feel free to get in touch at: damon@swirlysound.com

This company is producing and financing the new Paul Verhoeven film Zwartboek. You could also try:

Is anyone heading down for this? Want to split the cost/drive time of a rental car?
I am based in Amsterdam, but am willing to meet in elsewhere.
