Arni has recently taken up Aussie Rules football, and now plays for the Brussels Saints. A few weeks back we hosted the Paris Cockerels for a game in Brussels (and thrashed the pants off them). This weekend we travelled to Paris (or rather Chateau Thoiry, outside Paris) to face up to the Cockerels again...and we thrashed them again, with a 20 point margin!

If anyone's interested in joining in, I can pass on the contact details for the team captain/organiser, just let me know!

'Aussie Rules' football ... What are the Aussie Rules?
No Sheilas, no poofters, you can pick the ball up and put it in a pocket on the front of your jersey - but you can only hop with the ball there, Break every 10 minutes for a tinny?

Aussie Rules footie, ha ha ha, what a bunch of pussies....
We played the Munich Aussie Rules team a few times in "compromise rules", mix of Aussie Rules (no rules) and Gaelic football rules, we played the first half with a "normal" round ball and the second half with their funny-shaped oblong ball. The first time they turned up it was funny cos they were all giants (and tanned) so we thought we were playing against semi-pro's or something and afterwards we heard that when they saw us they thought "we better play easy" cos physically they were much bigger than us, anyhow we annihilated them in each game and using both balls, the Irish football skills are far more technical/skillfull than Aussie Rules, if you can catch a ball and then kick it immediately then you can play Aussie Rules. Afterwards they were complaining that we were "too rough", what a bunch of pansies......
However, have to say they were a cracking bunch of guys to celebrate afterwards in the pub with. They hate pommes more than we do ;-)
If the "saints" wanted to recruit guys who can play football then they should put up some posters in the Irish pubs.

Meh We already have some Irish talent on the team! Rugby players, as a matter of fact. They play quite well actually, except for occasionally forgetting to bounce the ball.

I wouldn't generalise so much if I were you, it's making you sound like a fool. Australia has won the past two cups against Ireland in the International Rules Series. (see
http://www.afl.com.au for more details).
There is no point in putting one code down, obviously both games require a lot of skills and are great to watch.
Ireland 77
Australia 41
Yes, the Aussies are really good at football, whats the story, don't they need to kick scores in Aussie rules ? how embarressing for them, maybe they should stick with cricket ?

Damn, we wanted to see that game yesterday, but it didn't seem to be broadcast anywhere
Mushrooms, behave yourself!! Everyone knows AFL is Football for Real Men. Rrrrrrrrrrrr.
Ireland 54 Australia 41 (132-82 aggregate victory). Maybe the Aussies should try and play compromise rules with the ladies footballers, thats all they are up to............
