Can anyone help?

We live in Liege right now and as non-Belgians, are quite tired of the place.

Maastricht is 27 km away and we are thinking of moving there.

Can anyone advise us (or recommend someone) who can advise us on how we would be affected in terms of paying taxes and getting health care in one or the other country?

Any advice would be much appreciated...

I live in Limburg and work most days in Belgium. Because I keep the number of days I work in Belgium to under 183 I pay tax in the Netherlands, as well as the social costs. My health insurance from the Netherlands also covers me in Belgium.

If I work over 183 days In Belgium then I would have to start paying tax in Belgium. There is a compensation scheme so you will be out of pocket, in theory.

There is quite a bit of Information on the Belastingdienst web site at:

My husband is from Belgium (we're in the US now) but he's been offered a job in holland just north of the Belgium/Netherlands border. Any idea how they would compare. It sounds like Ned is more expensive housing wise, but does it balance out when you factor in insurance, groceries, etc?
To any one who wants to know more about moving to Belgium, expatriate-online.com is an excellent site. I have a book that someone from that site wrote that seems very helpful.
