Full Version: The waiting is the hardest part

Finally, after 8 months of being "just friends", two of my friends are now dating each other, which I think is absolutely the cutest thing, especially as shyness was the only reason it took so long. Is this a lesson in the virtues of perseverance? How long would you wait, and in what circumstances? (God, the forum is boring today.)

I'd wait as long as it was reasonable, a few months. Longer if there were extenuating circumstances. When I was dating, I got a real thrill from the feeling of anticipation--my imagination let loose and the waiting was rather exciting. My husbanded "waited" a year from the time he first asked me out to when I was able to accept while I disentangled myself from a terrible relationship. (I made it up to him.)

My boyfriend waited 6 months. We worked in the same office. I never noticed him, but it's true we worked for totally different departments on different product lines on a 1000-person site. He says he waited because he was too shy and also he thought it would be disloyal to his then-girlfriend to even talk to me. When his relationship ended, he made the decision to move back home to Ghent, and only then finally approached me, as he had nothing to lose and it was going to be his only opportunity. Five months later, we moved in together in Brussels.
Real men dont wait...
Camilla
I think the only time I've waited was back in my uni days when I struck up a friendship with a security guard who used to patrol the building I was studying in till all hours. Actually, it was he that waited - he waited until after my exams were over to ask me out. Not sure why though - maybe he didn't want to interfere with my studies or something...

Other than that, all my relationships have tended to be "surprises" that happened unexpectedly, so there hasn't really been any waiting involved.

Like DB, I also think it's cute to watch a relationship developing. And it's very nice when they do finally get together

The chase is always more interesting than the catch !!
real men wait, look, watch and listen. If you rush someone, they can get scared...and can slip away..

I don't think there are hard and fast rules on the subject, and waiting time has never been on my list of criteria for "real manhood".

I prefer the waiting myself. Once I know I can have something, I don't really care. So I guess its not really the waiting, just wanting the (seemingly) unattainable!
dumblonde
So basically you want something until you get it, and then you don't want it anymore? Isn't that a recipe for chronic dissatisfaction?

Thatīs the difference between a taurus (to have) and a sagittarius (to hunt). Are you a sagittarius Kiwikiwi by any chance?
Camilla
Waiting is definitely part of the fun - anticipation can be delicious - but I love the getting part too Guess that makes me a Libra

Oh no, I'm Taurus with Sagittarius rising!

yep, guilty as charged. (and also true about the recipe for dissatisfaction)
waiting...doesn't the imagination take over then...and what do you do in the mean time?

Well... My sign is Camel and my ascendant is Whale! Should I obey to some specific seduction rules?

With those two in your chart, I should think the admonition "no spitting" would be most appropriate!
