Anyone jknow a site where I can check-out words to a few songs? First one I'm after is words to the Andrew Sisters 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B'.

Hmm...thought I replied to this, but it didn't post. Here you go, Kew.

Nice one, Raquel. Just as I got there the phone rang. The 'singer' has decided it's now a medley from the Stars on 45 track...Shish! Thanks anyway.
Now looking for the medley from the Star Sisters' as heard on the Stars on 45 disc. It's too fast to be able to recognise all the words. Anyone?
what are you up to? Karaoke King Kew???
It's a group of school teachers doing a charity fund raising thing. Stupidly I offered to write down the English words so they could learn it to mime to. Still looking for the above lyrics.
My apologies to all members (except Kew) for posting this.

You can boogie like disco, love that disco sound
Turn up the volume and move it all around
But don't, don't, don't, don't, don't forget
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't forget
The Stars on '45 keep on turning in your mind
Like "We Can Work it Out"
Remember "Twist and Shout"
You still don't "Tell Me Why" and "No Reply"

1, 2, 3, 4....
This happened once before when I came to your door
No reply
They said it wasn't you but I saw you peep through your window

You know if you break my heart I'll go
But I'll come back again
'Cause I told you once before goodbye
But I came back again

Asked a girl what she wanted to be
And she said, "Baby, can't you see?"
"I wanna be famous, a star on the screen."
"But you can do something in between!"
"Baby, you can drive my car."
"Yes, I'm gonna be a star."
"Baby, you can drive my car."
"And Baby, I love you!"

Listen, do you want to know a secret?
Do you promise not to tell?
Oh, oh-a-oh, oh
Closer, let me whisper in your ear
Say the words you long to hear
I'm in love with you (oh-a-ooh-ooh)

Try to see it my way
Do I have to keep on talking 'til I can't go on?
While you see it your way
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone
We can work it out
We can work it out

I should've know better with a girl like you
That I would love everything that you do
And I do, hey, hey, hey

He's a real nowhere man, sitting in his nowhere land

You're gonna lose that girl
You're gonna lose that girl
You're gonna lose that girl

I think I'm gonna be sad, I think it's today, yeah
The girl that's driving me mad is going away
She's got a ticket to ride, she's got a ticket to ride
She's got a ticket to ride and she don't care

Say the word and you'll be free
Say the word and be like me
Say the word I'm thinking of
Have you heard the word is love?
It's so fine, it's sunshine
It's the word, love

Ahh, look at all the lonely people
Ahh, look at all the lonely people

When I'm walking beside her people tell me I'm lucky
Yes, I know I'm a lucky guy
I remember the first time I was lonely without her
Can't stop thinking about her now
Every little thing she does, she does for me, yeah
And you know the things she does, she does for me, oooh

You tell me that you've got everything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don't get me, you don't get me
When your prized possessions start to wear you down
Look in my direction, I'll be around, I'll be around

Jo jo was a man who thought he was a loner
But he knew it wouldn't last
Jo jo left his home in Tucson, Arizona
For some California grass
Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged

Got a good reason for takin' the easy way out
Got a good reason for takin' the easy way out now
She was a day tripper, one way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out and I found out

It's been a long time
Now I'm coming back home
I've been away now
Oh, how I've been alone
Wait 'til I come back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried
But if your heart breaks
Don't wait, turn me away
And if your heart's strong
Hold on, I won't delay

The Stars on '45 keep on turning in your mind
Like "We Can Work it Out"
Remember "Twist and Shout"
You still don't "Tell Me Why" and "No Reply"
Phew! Very, very close. Thanks Diz. I have that one ( well, most of it) but it's 'the other one' I'm after. Starts off with Boogi Woogie Bugle Boy, then The American Way, Sister Shane-Bella Bella, In the Mood, Working for the Yankee Dollar, Coo-Coo, and then In Spain they say....
Thanks for the input tho'. Appreciate it.
Given your prowess for poetry, Kew, why not write your own lyrics? They'd have to be better than the "real" thing!
.Cos the ladies in question are miming to a record. I'm sure thee and me could beat 'em hands down...but, my hands are tied through my tipsy promise.
I have the correct titles of the songs in the Star Sister's 'Stars on 45' CD. I've even got the CD, just can't make sense of a lot of it...why did I volunteer? Anyway;
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy...(got all of that); South American Way; Bei Mir Bist Du Schon; In the Mood (got this one too); Rum and Coca Cola (I have that one too); Tico Tico; Say Si Si.
Camilla
Have you tried looking up the lyrics for each song on the net, and figuring out which lyrics appear in the medley?
Nope. Never thought of that. Have you? If so....give it a go and come back already...like.
Well I have most of what I need. Just stuck on 'Tico Tico' 'Say Si Si' and parts of 'South American Way'
Okay, first off, thanks to all who helped out. I got most of the words and the girls are only miming anyway so any odd words missed won't be noticed. I printed it all out in 14pt bold, video'd it and added the song while scrolling down the words. Looks OK. I'm getting to be a dab 'and at this video lark. Just need a good 'puter now!

I thought that I would just jump on Kew's bandwagon here (Sorry Kew, wasn't around when you needed help), cause I also have a songwords problem. It's a long shot, but here goes. I've been roped into performing a duet with a barmaid 'wannabee rockstar', and there's no way out. The song is a duet between J.J. Goldman and Celine Dion (I know, I know!). I'm playing the guitar part, and that's not a problem, but the lyrics? I can't even whistle that fast, so - can any of you budding songwriters out there suggest an English alternative? A simple translation's not a problem, I just can't think of anything in English which would catch the spirit.

Does it have a translatable (English)title?
This one?
Et meme si le temps presse
Meme s'il est un peu court
Si les annees qu'on me laisse
Ne sont que minutes et jours

Et meme si l'on m'arrete
Ou s'il faut briser des murs
En soufflant dans les trompettes
Ou a force de murmures

J'irai au bout de mes reves
Tout au bout de mes reves
Ou la raison s'acheve
Tout au bout de mes reves

Et meme s'il faut partir
Changer de terre et de trace
S'il faut chercher dans l'exil
L'empreinte de mon espace

Et meme si les tempetes
Les dieux mauvais les courants
Nous feront courber la tete
Plier les genoux sous le vent

Et meme si tu me laisses
Au creux d'un mauvais detour
En ces instants qui dessechent
La force de nos amours

Je garderai la blessure
Au fond de moi tout au fond
Mais au dessus je te jure
Que j'effacerai ton nom.
Ah! Iread your bit again. You don't want the lyrics, you want English words to the tune??
Oblomov
Kew, thanks for your input, but yes, I need an English alterntive. Like I said, I'm playing guitar over the top of this so I need something simple to sing over. Maybe it's the same as you, can't remember how I got roped into this, but now there's no way out.
Couldn't you pick out a popular song you know and alter it to fit your music?
Full balst electric guitar, hendrix style. That'll cure her!
Oblomov
Thanks for your advice guys. Marcel, I'm already playing it pretty damn loud and very fast (cause that's how she wants to perform it). I still can't believe that I got involved in this. Thought I'd managed to crawl out of this the other day after our third rehearsal when I blurted out that we couldn't do it without a tambourine player (good ones are hard to find). Also felt pretty sure that we wouldn't find any rehearsal space. What did she do? She found a drummer and spoke to a local theatre director to secure rehearsal space for two weeks! And even worse - to compensate for cancelling our original gig I promised to do two extra songs. Enter Parricia Kaas, and I'm still waiting in fear for her third choice. Ok, everyone's entitled to their 15 minutes of fame, but better that these 15 minutes don't suck.
OK. Sounds like you'll have to bite the bullet. Go to the E19, lie on hard shoulder. When a lorry is about to pass, stick out your arm. This should break it in about four or five places.

She will not have an answer for that.

Now, if that fails, where and when is the gig - I think we may all turn up to witness it!
Oh! Yes! Please say it's close to me! (I can play the harmonica and I don't 'alf humm!

Second attempt to reply to this - god I love the preview option! Place - the Beursscafe Brussels, time? don't know yet.

Barmaid, huh? Hope the resulting sexual favors are worth your trouble. This performance I gotta see. Do tell us where and when.
Oblomov
Latest update on this very boring subject - I roped in a tambourine player (who can sing in French) and a keyboard player. Don't think they realised what they've let themselves in for, but more fool them. I'm almost off the hook - cept for the guitar playing. BTW DB, the 'barmaid' is happily married and has two kids. There's no questions of 'sexual favours'. I'm doing it for the more noble reason - if I don't I'll never be able to drink in that bar again!
Now then, Oblo...isn't drinking in that bar what got you into this situation in the first place??
Camilla
Oh do tell us when it is exactly, so we can all come along anonymously and then spring out afterwards to surprise you *evil grin*
How about Cammybonks for Interval Jester?

Hi folks! Thought I'd give you a kind of obituary from my French Rock death (actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be). Finally played the concert on Saturday night in the Beurscafe. Line-up - the barmaid from next door on vocals, me and another guy on guitars, a keyboard player and a tambourine player (and yes, I got out of the singing part). Set list - 1 song by Celine Dion and JJ Goldman, 2 by Patricia Kaas and 1 by Florent Pagny with a very dodgy version of Auld Lang Syne for a sort of encore. Sorry that I didn't tell you in advance, but well, you wouldn't would you? We had an audience of about a hundred which is not bad considering that there's normally only 10 people there at 9 on a Saturday night. DB - no sexual favours were received, and after this I don't think any are gonna be for a long time. Kew, how did your event go?
