I had to put my cat to sleep last night. We buried her in the back yard. I'm totally bummed out. It's now noon and I'm still hanging around in the oversize T-shirt I slept in last night. We have two other cats but it's not the same and besides, they like my boyfriend better than me!

I'm so sorry, Sheryl <img src="../images/emoticons/bbutbut.gif"> It's hard to lose a loved pet. You're in my thoughts.
I cant even be cruel (must be the season and all...) I have to admit I dont understand fully but hope you cheer up in time for the New Year (you do celebrate that dont you?)

I loved that little cat. I get very attached to pets. I'm now thinking of getting a puppy.
FYI, Dizzy, we celebrate the Jewish New Year in September, and we're now in the year 5764... but even in Israel they copy the Christian West and celebrate New Year's Eve on December 31. After all, who wants to pass up an opportunity for a good party?

My deepest sympathy Sheryl. One of my cats died 5 years ago and I was a mess for days after. One of the most touching things I've ever read about this matter was written by Kinky Friedman (the 'Texan Jewish Cowboy') who isn't normally known to show his emotions. He buried his cat with a New York t-shirt, a can of tuna and a cigar, but found solace in the belief that, in death, all the animals you've ever known will come running back to greet you.

Don't worry Ketchup, the 'theory' only applies to animals you were close to. Personally, I'd rather be shat on by a thousand pigeons than have to bump into a lot of SOBs that I never met in this life. BTW, the guy that I mentioned, Kinky Friedman, also published a book of his favouite Southern American recipes. Apart from that, please show a bit more respect for people who "choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own lives within a fragile circle..." (Irving Townsend).
Pigeons - horrible thought though!

Sheryl I know how you feel, our dog had its spleen removed a week ago and the outlook at the moment is not so rosy. Hope you can learn to love your other cats.
Ps this time buy a dog, they are much more friendly than cats.
