Hi Folks,

I'm starting to plan for an expat assignment in Leuven and am hoping to live in the old city center. I'm not interested in living in the surrounding areas, really focusing on the old city center in a historic building ideally.

I need a 1 bedroom apartment (though 2bedroom would be nice in case of guests) and am hoping to find something in an older building (>100years / nice typical flemish architecture) with some character that's in an interesting neighborhood. I'm not a drinker or party animal so easy access to bars or hte like is not important - I really am more interested in having nearby shops and the like.

My company will be providing a rent allowance and I want to get some idea of what this might cost to see if the company allowance is sufficient (they have not told me what the amount is yet).

What would a nice apartment in a good and interesting neighborhood (prefer bohemian interesting as opposed to cookie cutter "luxury") in the center of Leuven rent for?

Thanks!
Luis

Hi,

I'm living quite close to the Grote Markt, in a 2-storey 1-bedroom apartment. My rent is 750€ including electricity, water and the internet. I don't know if this is a typical rent or not. Good luck with your house hunt!
