I had gone to the Gemeente a few months back but they told me since we are knowledge migrants, hence we are not entitled to the free course.
Any ideas why this is so??

They are not even willing to offer me the subsidized ones.. sad.gif

It's because as a knowledge migrant you already have a well-paid job and an education, so it's deemed that it's not that necessary for you to integrate. If you were here on most other long-term visas, you are required to integrate and that is the government's resposibility, so they pay for it.
If you are going for a permanent resident permit or naturalisation you are required to prove that you know the lanuage from next year, you can mention this to them to see if they are willing to assist you. Otherwise you have to pay from your own pocket.
Perhaps you can check with your employer if they are willing to help you out?
