Am curious to find out if Freemasonry exists in the Netherlands. I know in some countries their presence is very small, but what about the liberal minded Netherlands? Is there a Grand Lodge somewhere - or is it all kept under a cloak of secrecy? ph34r.gif

Yes there is, Groot Nederland, I found the link, however it is broken. And I think I've seen something in Alkmaar. Are you a freemason? I am not, but I worked with one \ 15 years ago.

Am I a Freemason? Couldn't possibly answer that unless you whispered the secret password... ph34r.gif laugh.gif

Did find the website of the Orde van Vrijmetselaren onder het Grootoosten der Nederlanden, and also discovered that the University of Leiden has a Professor of the History of Freemasonry!

Yeah I worked with one too, he kept trying to recruit me. But it was a good business move for him, it was a small town with 2 PC shops and because he was a mason he got the business from all of them, their businenesses and their families!

There are freemasons all over the world.
Some regard them as interfering do-gooders who take the law into thier own hands.
They are certainly not as respectable as they would have you beleive.
Do they let women or black people join ? They didn't used to.

A lot of cops are masons.

Someone actually asked me to join when I was really young, but fortunately I had a criminal record at the time :o) so I unable to do so even if I'd've wanted.

There are millions of non-white Masons in the US and have been for a long time.

Anyone who wants to keep secrets has something to hide.
They have their means of dealing out judgement (ie.The White Glove Treatment)
Taking the law into your own hands is illegal I thought.

Syzygy
The White Glove Treatment? Sounds like something out of a Sherlock Holmes story...

Whatever.
I think there are just as many crooks and liars who are masons as there are in any other part of society.
Government.
The military.
Police.
The judicial system.
Big Pharma
The Arms Trade.
Religion

It only takes a couple of psychos in a hundred people to screw things up big time.
And that is what is happening.

You may be getting confused with The Red Hand Gang.
Syzygy
The Red Hand Gang rolleyes.gif

I reckon you mean The Red Headed League. No confusion; my point is that 'The White Glove Treatment' sounds like it could be a title from a Holmesian novel, or the name of a terrible death meted out by the baddies whose fate will eventually lie in the hands of the great detective (Final instalment of this cracking adventure same time next week...
) ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

That kind of thing!

You're not far wrong actually....The White Glove Treatment is basically getting black-balled.
Bad-mouthed and boycotted, harassed and intimidated if somebody upsets 'The Club' in some way.
Thats what I read somewhere anyhoos.

That's the sort of thing that happens with bullying next-door neighbours, work colleagues, football thugs, school kids, drug dealers, etc, etc.

Oh, and Intel are apparently very good at that too laugh.gif

And secret societies.

Edit : The difference being that secret societies think they have more right to do it.
I just don't like anything that has to do with any of 'the Old boys network' - its part of the reason the world is so fck'd up.

Mostly in separate 'non-white' lodges right?

And women ?
I mean, who wants to be in a club where there are no women allowed?
Ah yes - but in that white,christian,middle-class world...alll the women go to where they rightfully belong - the Womens Institute.
marknz
In New Zealand the lodges have open days, but I've never been

Don't see how they could be anything else apart from 'non-white' under the circumstances. wink.gif ...or are you saying that they operate on an apartheid basis?

Yes - I'd say an aparthied basis.

I'll bet there's a few freemasons with joint KKK membership in fact.

Anything to substantiate that or is it just a guess? wink.gif

I suspect there are a few Women's Institute members too who also subscribe to the KKK laugh.gif

Thanks Wesley. There are a couple of links in those results I didn't see when I searched recently.

Rather curiously, from a Dutch Masonic Research Centre in Australia I found a link and information on this Netherlands-based 'secret society' for women: Order Vita Feminea Textura...

QUOTE
Aim
The aim of the Order Vita Feminea Textura, also called the Order of Weavers, is to stimulate the spiritual development of its members and so give greater substance and deeper meaning to their lives.

Work method
Essential to the Order are the initiations in which symbols and symbolic acts activate a greater awakening. The Order has three initiations: to Spinner, Weaver and Designer. The Spinner is taught to work up the raw wool and spin it into a useful thread. Thus will she recognise the inner material of unordered emotions and thoughts within her: the phase of reflection.

The Weaver is taught to weave the spun thread into the "Fabric of Mankind". Next to reflection she is taught to act.

Finally the Designer becomes conscious of her connection with the "Foundation of all Things". Reflection and action lead to service. The Order has no teachings and the symbols have no single explanation. Each member of the Order must comprehend the symbolism according to her own nature and give form to it in her life.

I also found this cartoon, which made me laugh:
