I am on KM residence permit here and as I also have 30% ruling, I have swapped my original (Canadian) driver's licence to a Dutch one. My quetsion is if it is possible to get back Canadian licence while keeping the Dutch one - at least temporary. The reason is that my Canadian driver's licence is asscociated with the bank account in Canada (as ID on the file).

Thanks.
sps
AFAIK, they send your original country license back to the respective embassy. It is possible to collect the license back from the embassy without any procedure. I however do not know how it works with the Canadian embassy, give them a call.

Why not just change your ID on file in the bank account to that of your Passport instead?

If that's not possible for whatever reason, sorry I can't help you with the CA situation but I do still have my NZ drivers licence ..I I just keep it current after I left as I got back regularly and need it) .. I got my NL licence afterwards... doesn't seem to effect my NL licence in any way.

kind regards...

Foreign driving licences are returned directly to the issuing authority providing proof of entitlement and as far as I'm aware, you cannot have them both at the same time, temporarily or otherwise, unless you happened to take your driving test again here keeping your Canadian one...
Explain the whole situation with your bank in Canada, they should be helpful.

If you hand the foreign licence in so as to get your Dutch one then no you can't as you've had to hand it in to get your entitlements here, you wont get the Dutch one otherwise, or so they told me. If you want them both then you'll have to take the driving test again here... or, make a copy of it before you hand it in. Actually, they asked me to do that anyway.

No You can request to keep it and they can take a photograph of the license
If not, then getit back at the Embassy but you can always have both. One does not negate the other.

Well, in my case they wanted the original and I could only keep the copy, which is usually the case... and, it wasn't the embassy they were sent to but the issuing authority in the country concerned.
