I'm looking at leaving the Netherlands to go back to Australia with my husband (who is Dutch). Does anyone know the best way to get rid of furniture and stuff in The Netherlands? In Australia I would just have a "garage sale", but that doesn't seem to really exist here.

We've been listing some stuff on marktplaats, but I have to rely on my husband to do that (cuz my dutch isn't good enough), and it's a long tedious process. We also know of a store where we can take some of our heavy furniture and they take it for free. We will be shipping a small amount of valuable stuff, but we're not going to take some of the large, worthless items (cupboards, tv, fridge).

Any tips?

We're also looking into all the insurances and accounts we need to cancel........any advice to offer there? I don't know enough about this country to know if I've covered all bases.

you can also post on craigs list. No one seems to mind if you write your ad in English.

The dutch look for bargains, they will get over it if it is in English.
where are you located?

I'm in Apeldoorn. I know I originally posted this a while ago, but things are going underway now. Will be creating a small picture gallery or things we need to sell.

Can anyone recommend a good shipping company?
misfitmel
Does nobody know any shipping companies? I find that so many of them don't even bother to return my calls, so it's hard to know which company might be a good one to rely on.

I'm trying to set a date to leave in about a month, so it's starting to get urgent to find one.

www.baggage.nl

You can drop it off at schiphol, I have used them and they were very good and reasonable in price.

Get your dutch husband to go down to the gemeente, they should know the procedure or give him a pointer in the right direction.

Maybe give this place a ring. They should have some info too.

Hi,

We are expecting to have the baby by May next year and we are interested with all the baby stuffs that you have. Besides from the Baby gym, baby mobile and the baby bath.
Do you still have other baby stuffs we can get/add in the list? How much is it individually and if we are to buy everything can we get like a package deal?

Also, we are eyeing on the refridgerator - what is the model and how long has it been used and is it still under the warranty?

Pardon with me asking too much :-)

Where are you guys located?

I hope these are still available.

Groetjes,

Mvr. Krause
