I was feeling lazy yesterday, so ordered a pizza and some hot wings from 'Pizza Donna', which has the highest rating on Thuisbezorgd for food quality (4.5 out of 5). What a bloody disaster! Horrible tasteless pizza, and microwaved wings that were swimming in grease. Probably worst of all, the wings were plain, with a nasty 'hot' sauce served on the side.
It amazes me that restaurants here can't even prepare Buffalo Wings correctly. The only place I've ever managed to get anything approaching nice in Amsterdam is in the Hard Rock cafe.
As for this excuse for a restaurant voted as having the best pizza in Amsterdam, well it just speaks volumes (again) about what the Dutch consider to be good food. After one wing and one slice of pizza, I threw everything in the bin.
It's back to Dominos again for me, whenever I fancy pizza. It's not great, I know, but at least you know what you're going to get. Plus, it's actually edible (and their kickin' chicken is not bad).

Oddly, our favourite pizza delivery is New York Pizza's "Brooklyn Style" pizza (essentially a cheesy pepperoni pizza) with "Italian" thin-crust. The good pizza places in Amsterdam don't deliver, as far as I know.

I tend not to read Dutch reviews and its become evident that their palette is completely different - I read some reviews of one restaurant online, and all the Dutch reviews were bad - but all the reviews from foreigners in English were good! I remember once at a business dinner at a traditional Dutch restaurant, we were served some chicken-y thing that looked like it had been blended into baby vomit - it was really disgusting and I couldn't even eat it - next to me, my Dutch colleague was shoveling it down his throat, looking at me and proclaiming "MMM, lekkkerrrr!"...

Hahah, I had bad experience with newyork pizza too. I think, it depends on on wat day, who is preparing the pizza. Today pizza outlets is been outsourced or francised. It depends on owner how professional he is ? how good his staff is tranned. Most of the time the kitchen staff is parttime and change very quickly. I think domminos pizza is been good most of the time and as i say it depends on staff on that day. good luck.

Cheap alternate . Buy cheap pizza from Lidil or Albert hienz and top up with tunna or chicken at home. Trust me its more economical and tasty. cost is around 3 euros.
