Greetings people,

For starters a few thigs about me,i am a 29 year old working in IT holder of a EU passport(slovenian) and for couple of years i had a wish to live and work in Amsterdam.Until recently that was not financially feasible but the situation has changed so i started to roam the net searching for realestate(apartments) to buy.Am i wrong in thinking that as a EU passport holder i wont have much problems buying/living there? I know i have to register myself when i get there with the local muncipality?(forgot the name but i have it bookmarked),do i need residence permit?

Well...i have a budget up to 150k Euro and i have found realestate in Amsterdam for those prices, but as i dont know Amsterdam i am having a hard time deciding on a nebghourhood,so if anyone could reccomend some good locations that would be great.

I am looking for an apartment preferablly in Amsterdam itself(no commuting),good view(terrace?),something not smaller then around 50m2,good access to internet/cable/tv,not much noise(airport, tram, etc.),so is it feasible with the budget i have?

Also boat houses? What it's like living on one?Do you have privacy on them or everyone walkin can see you? Also what are the prices for them?

The plan envisioned is buying an apartment, relocating there and finding a job in the near future(have startup money to get me trough).

Read about the cost of living like medical(around 50-80 Euro/month,food 250-400 Euro,Internet/phone 60-?? Euro, domestic bills(electricity, water, gas) 200-?? Euro so the question is with my own apartment would a budget of around 1000 Euro a month be enough for a comfortable living?(Dinner in a restaurant every once in a while, movies, sightseeing(atleast for the first couple of months)other ammenities..)

Also i have taken into account a budget for furnishing the apartment/repairs if needed(on a side note i found something that has me confused, like buying a house/apartment? and paying for a lease on the land where it is? Or did i got that part wrong?)

The price of tram tickets(around 50 Euro a month? or should i go with bycycle? I'm thinking if there are so much bikes there it must be convinient way to get around?)

If the above is not reasonable to expect could you please point me to the righ way so to speak..smile.gif

?ou'll be very lucky to find an appartment for 150K in Amsterdam. 50m2 is more around the 200K mark or just under.

I am currently on that very sam page smile.gif and there are apartments for sale at those prices around 50-ish m2 but since i do not know amsterdam i dont know what neibghourhoods are nice/good/close travelling wise and all in all good to live in.

p.s.For example

De Boelelaan 267,1082 RC Amsterdam 125k Euro for 60m2
Langswater 709,1069 EG Amsterdam 125k Euro 65m2

but i see your point the closer you get to center the prices are higher..well if the apartment was in a nice position and i like it i would consider getting a smaller one for the budget after all it's reccession wink.gif

Outside the Ring you'll get those sort of prices, but inside...it's pretty tough. Something will come along however!
