I find remitance interesting. What proportion of your salary do you usally send home? And where does it go to, your family or your private bank account?
I come from Australia so the practise is strange for me

Yes I have used Paypal to send money to my Indian Bank A/c. Everything mentioned in the link is right. Above 7000 there is no charge, for less there is 50 Rs. charge.

It takes 2-7 working days to transfer. However, paypal exchange rates are 1-2 Rs. per USD lower than the market rate..but apart from this, there are no issues..
