What is the situation here regarding suing a builder. I had a complete renovation on an old house (ended 2 years ago). Since then, I have had to call the builder back a number of times regarding things that have been unfinished, e.g the thermostat on the underfloor heating has never worked since it was installed so, with 2 winters later and the prospect of a 3rd coming up, I am now extememely fed up. He keeps promising to return and fix but as yet, he has not. E.g. the completley new boiler system kept shutting off, and the house was always cold even whilst the temp was up to max. After a whole year of him making several return visits to the house, tinkling with knobs (with no noticable change to the temp), we came back from vacation and found that it had shut off completely - and this was during the winter, and snow. After calling numerous gas engineers to come out - NUON finally did, and refused to touch it, as it was not a legal brand of boiler in NL, and had anyprobs arised from it, such as it it had caught fire - then the insurance would not have paid, and we would have been culpable. Also, it was too small and gave inneficient output for the size of the house, hence the constant lack of sufficient heat in the house. AS you can tell by my ramblings, I want to draw a line underneath any dealings with this company. There are so many other (smaller) things not done properly - and I live in dread of another serious error (e.g. illegal boiler), manifesting itself. Is it poss to sue them retrrospectively, as all the payments have been made to them. They are a legal Polish company operating here, and I proceeded with them after seeing other excellent work of theirs, and recommendations.

Can you not name and shame them as I am in the process of getting quotes for building work to be done. Sorry I can be of no help with your problem though.

did you ever got this resolved ? I have a similar situation and I'm seeking legal help, just wanted to see if you were able to figure out what the options are.
Thanks.
