Hi.,

I recently moved to Amsterdam from India. I have done my engineering in Electronics and made some courses in testing tools in India. Currently dont have any experience but enthusiastic to work in an challenging environment. Flexible to work in any role and any environment and salary is not an constraint for me.

I regsiterd some employment agencies (Iamsterdam website) and remained unsuccessful in getting job.

Please advice

Regards
Kumar

From my impression, the electronics industry is not concentrated around Amsterdam. Instead, you should be able to find relevant companies around Eindhoven, Enschede and Deflt.

How could you get residency without an employment contract and with no experience - are you 'legal' to work here? If not, then that's why people aren't looking twice at your application.

Electronics/consumer goods companies are also cutting back on staff - large scale redundancies - so it's not surprising you aren't getting anywhere.

No matter how many times people say this it's ignored:

Your Chances of getting a job here - any job - as a non-fluent-Dutch speaker during the recession is very, very low.

The international companies are downsizing globally. The Dutch companies prefer their own native speakers, most of whom speak English as well or better than others who learned English as a second language. The smaller your skillset or experience, the less opportunities there are to start with. There are so many skilled/qualified people who have recently been made redundant that employers can be as choosy as they want; they are getting x times more applications than usual for every job at the moment
.

Practically, have someone look over your CV to see if there are any obvious errors in it. Maybe also spend this time trying to teach yourself basic Dutch - there are lots of free resources on the internet or join the local library to borrow course-books.

My partner works in IT (contracting for an agency) and we live near Eindhoven. In the past 8 months, the job market has really dried up in IT. This time last year, he was being contacted by recruiters begging him to work. Now, he has several friends who do not have work due to the economy.

It is possible to come to the Netherlands without a job already...but you have to get a verblijfsgunning or some legal certification so that you may work legally. Maybe the OP has this.

I also work in IT closer to Tilburg. We had 20 contractors working for us this time last year, we've reduced that by about 75% and are going through ridiculous cost-down measures that include the emptying of our waste baskets being only once a month instead of once a week. Now is a tough time. I sincerely wish you luck. Hopefully you came here with some savings because it could be a while before the market picks up.
