I will be moving to Brussels on July 28th, for a two-year assignment. My position will require me to commute (via car) to Lot each morning. I am a social 24 year old professional, and would like to live in a relatively lively part of the city, yet I understand that traffic could present a problem in the 1000 area. I've been looking at flats in Etterbeek, Ixelles, Uccle, etc, but I have been having some trouble finding flats with a parking space/garage.

My questions are: [i] How long will my daily commute be from those areas? [ii] Is it easier to find a flat then rent a parking space/garage separately, or should I look for a package deal? [iii] Should I be looking in other areas?

I sincerely appreciate the guidance and I'm very much looking forward to moving to Belgium.

If you want a good idea of travel, go to Mappy.com and type in Brussels to Lot - this will give you the best journey time - then add 40% Sounds like you should live near Lot and come to Brussels and other cities when you need to party. You will soon make friends you can stay with in Brussels for the odd night out.

I would suggest to live just in between Brussels and Lot? Many people I know do this (e.g. my neighbour). Especially because the towns laying in between, are very nice for living. Places like Dilbeek, Zellik, St.Pieters Leeuw are places I suggest. If you are still looking for good place to rent, or interested in moving from where you are now: I've just put the apartment where I'm living (Zellik) for rent because I'm going abroad for 1 year, starting January. If you're willing to stay longer, this can be arranged.
You can find the description and all the details in the posted ad from today "Fully furnished apartment in green surroundings of Brussels".
I hope to hear from you in the near future,

Best regards,
Anja
