Hi all,

I'm struggling to find the cheapest way to phone my friends in the UK on their mobiles. It seems to cost 30c per minute with the long distance sim cards like vectone, lebara etc..

I blame the UK mobile operators. It costs me about a tenth of the price to phone mobiles in the Far East!!!

Any ideas?

thanks
Chris

Dial this 0900-1230076, then 00 44 ##########. It will cost you 6c/min. Can you call them to their land line? Then dial 020 701-9292. You can talk 24/7 free of charge. I am using this for 2 years already.

Here is the link for all the countries:

Then you have to pay calling the landline, with 020-701-9292 you can call for FREE landline in UK, USA, Canada, Rusiia and some other countries.

True but those require a monthly payment subscription and this is more or less per call and the credit stays there forever until you use it

I take it that if I have a Dutch mobile then its better to call the 020 no. rather than the 0900?

I don't know that. I do have a land line and calling any land line number in NL is free, plus using those numbers free to call overseas some countries. I pay ~ 46 - 47 EUR/month TV/Internet/Phone package. To me this is the best deal. I don't undestand why people are relying almost entirely on mobile phones? It is only more expensive.

In the good old days, we used a lolly sick in the coin slot of the pay-phone for free overseas calls. Thought that technology would make things easier and cheaper, it didnt. Alternatively you could tap out the number while dialling the zero. It was also possible to dial the operator snd tell her you had been misconnected, that way you got a credit. Have you tried any of these old tricks for free calls?

    Hi Chris,
Check telediscount.nl. It costs 20 cts to call a mobile phone in the UK. You first call 0900 1526 then dial the number in the UK including country dialing code.

You said not SKYPE. Have you tried voipbuster?
    Good luck

Danielle, why pay 6cmin dialing 0900 123 00 76, when you pay more with your numbers?

Look at my first post you can call UK landline for free and mobile for 6c/min:

    Beltarieven

    It works.

How about 2 cents per minute for UK? (after 20:00 hrs and weekend rate)
Teledump. 0900 8100. website shows global tarrifs. Cost of your call will just be shown on your normal providers bill (e.g KPN), so no seperate bills from Teledump. Just shows how much the likes of us are being milked by most large Companies?

Mehari, you can dial more expensive if you like.

020 701-9292 is free calling LANDLINE numbers @ 0 EUR/min (completely free any time of day/night week). Doesn't heart to try calling mobile. No separate bill.

0900-1230076 is 6 EUR c/min for MOBILE numbers. No separate bill.

0900-8100 is not always the same price, as of this moment (see the time of the post) it is 3c min and I think for the land line.

Why are some folks trying to reinvent (more expensove) wheel mellow.gif ?

i am all confused now. what do i need to do to get free calls to the uk from a landline to a landline in uk?

Wild Rose - just in case you think no one is listening ;-)) Thanks for posting the free to UK number. Just tried it and it works. I checked their web site www.callsdiscount.nl and it confirms that it's free. It's an 020 number so the only cost is the standard cost of a call to Amsterdam, if you do it from your mobile then I guess it comes out of your normal minutes so is also free. I just called from work so that's also free ;-))) If anyone is in any doubt - you do not need to sign up or pay a subscription, just call the number.

As far as I'm aware, you can only do this if one has set up ones telephone account paying a fixed premium per month... otherwise you pay whatever the charges are from ones telephone company.
I only started using this number over the last 6 months (I don't believe the number is that old), the line isn't very good, being a bit echoy but I see they've come up with a new one now which seems a bit better... you really get what you pay for. To be honest, I don't understand how it can be free, nothing is generally free, but it's nice to know that one can call around the world for nothing.
