Hi,

Des anyone know of a weight watchers group in English in the Amsterdam area?

Not as of a couple of years ago when I was looking for one. Not even online. My memory is fuzzy about the details, but I tried signing up on their website, and it insisted on going Dutch when I put in my address. So I tried putting in my Canadian address, and I received an email telling me that I was about to receive all these goodies in the mail to get started. When I emailed to tell them my situation, that I wasn't actually IN Canada anymore, but wanted English support, they said, sorry, can't help you.

If things have changed, I'd love to know...

I just use the .com (US) version of the WWer online. I didn't like the dutch version when I checked into it after I moved over here (they were still on what was the 1-2-3 program in the US, which I hated) so I just stuck with my online account.

Yeah, but that's my point...I tried signing up to the Canadian WW site and they only would send the kit or whatever to a Canadian address. If you want it sent here, you have to sign up to the Dutch WW and therefore everything will be in Dutch.

I am a member of the dutch WW online. My dutch isn't great, but its passable so its not really a problem. I have even posted on the forums a few times in english and people just responded in dutch.
Keep in mind the American(and i would assume also the Canadian) programs work differently.I tried the American one for a bit but it just didn't work because there is so much they have in America that Holland doesn't have. It was just too complicated. There is so much WW food there-ice cream bars made specifically to be as low in points as possible-i get very jealous.
The dutch version works fine for me and I even get the magazine in Dutch once every two months. Its easier to make a dutch recipe than try and convert an english recipe.
I looked also for a WW meeting in english, but couldn't find one. So now i just go online.
I have been doing it for awhile so if you have any questions-let me know!

BTW...if anyone is interested in Weight Watchers products, the Absolutely British store in Amstelveen has a pretty good selection! (I don't use them, but there were enough products in the freezer and on the shelves that you couldn't miss them!)

And I believe they are starting up a Weight Watchers group above the shop, but when I don't know.

the last I heard they couldn't get WW NL to respond to them. So they were going to try and just start a weight loss group and after there is some interest try and convert it to WW.

There's a shop that sells British and American food in Den Haag called 'Kellys'.

Amazingly .. they have a very nice selection of WW dinners and deserts! I was really surprised and the clerk says they always keep the items in stock.

I like the POINTS system so those little meals are perfect!
