Hello All,

I have the foll doubts about getting money back from the Belastingdienst.

  • if you register at the Gemeente with your partner legally (without marrying), is there any chance of getting some money back end-of-the-year when you file for taxes?
  • If one of my family members back home is dependant on my financial assistance and I transfer money on a regular basis (monthly) to this family member, can I deduct that somehow in the taxes?
  • What is the threshold of getting money back from health insurance/medical costs?
  • If I do a professional course / education that is useful to my job and I pay it myself can I claim that in the taxes?
  • If I relocate to another city for work reasons, but the employer doesn’t pay for the relocations costs to move my things, can I claim this money back?

Thanks in advance,
mvn

Thanks in advance,

This is for an accountant.

I'm not accountant or specialist but it pretty much goes like:

  • Maybe, but most likelly no (conditional, plus has to be dealt with in Dutch, so ...).
  • No.
  • No treshold for getting back taxes, meaning Insurance covers something, everything else costs.
  • No.
  • No.

Can/Should crosscheck with some tax accountant though, but don't expect too much.

Cannot comment for the rest but my husband tax adviser told him that he could deduct cost for education/training/certifications if you are studying because it is a requirement or relevant for your present or future occupation.
The first €500 of any education costs is NOT deductible. I believe a maximum of €15,000 is deductible each year.

1) Yes, if you have enough items which qualify for tax relief
2) Yes, if you can proof the dependancy as well as proof of payment. I have done that all years, my son was living in Germany whilst I was struggling with the cloggies
3) There is a treshold of I belief 500 EUR, but I am not certain as it changes every year, depending on the gratitude of the annual Dutch budget
4) Someone else mentioned the eductaional treshold already and his/her figure is correct
5) Yes, with good backup these cost can qualify for tax relief
