Anyone know where I might be able to track down "real" dill pickles here
in the Netherlands? Either US "kosher dills" or Bicks "Polski Ogorki" from Canada.

Any tips appreciated. Thanks!

I think I've seen kosher dills at the Kingsalmarkt in Amstelveen.

Canadian ANYTHING is impossible. Just not enough of us here I guess...

The one's you find in every supermarket are 'real dills'
The type found in the AH are the same type in the UK fish & chip shops.

I have come to the conclusion that we are in desperate need of a Kingsalmart here in Zwolle.

Can I get a second on that please???

Remind me not to buy pickles in the UK then. They are not what einselgaenger are looking for. The supermarket ones are too sweet.

The ones we are talking about are incredibly garlicky and salty. They make your jaws ache. Heaven!! laugh.gif

That variety sound nice, I don't know it. however in the UK, pickled onions are very tangy & hot and difficult to find here.

In my local AH they used to have the really big jars of pickled onions but they've gone and only the tiny kind remain. nice but not as strong as the UK variety. sad.gif

When there was an expat shop near the Concertgebouw a few years back, they carried "Kosher Dills" (I can't stand them but my wife loves them)...since then, never really seen any.... I don't think the kind desired are at Kingsalmarkt if they're the same kind my wife likes (though she's very picky so maybe they just didn't have the right brand).

There is a nice little Polish shop in de Pijp which seems to have a zillion different kinds of pickles, so maybe that's worth a check, though all the labels are in Polish ;-)
On a side note, the kielbasa and pierogi at the Polish shop are great, if you're into that kind of thing....

Has anyone found those pickles yet? I'm not sure, but I think I'm looking for the same kind. I'm looking for the kind of dill pickle that is big, crunchy, garlicky, sour and tastes great sliced up on hamburgers. I'm not sure this is the exact description of a kosher pickle, which, in my experience, are not usually as crunchy as I like.

Thanks for the tips.
