I've been asked to compile something on places to eat out in Amsterdam. I've been many places, but on the whole, I've not been overly impressed. Places seem over-priced of average quality and with some of the snittiest staff I've known. I've got a few exceptions, but wondered if anyone could share their tips with me and tell me what's great about them. Just so I don't go all one-sided. It needs to be good food, decent value and (if possible) great service.

By the same value, do let me know of any places to avoid and why.

I'll credit any tipsters in the article and post a link back here.

Thanks

Hoi Tin chinese in the Red Light District.
Best chinese I have had here(or anywhere, i guess).
Very good food
Reasonably Priced
Poor Service. But, the service is poor because they are chinese and just do things a little differently. Not because they are dutch and have a pole up their ****.
They don't have cola light(Strange) and they don't accept credit cards or PIN(which is a pain). But if you know that going in-its all good! Just don't mind the dead ducks......

Just being 'helpful' which I guess some folks can't believe tongue.gif

That site is amazing. Some people on egullet (not in ams) are almost too into food.

The management of the site are a bunch tossers, they lost a bunch of great posters when it went from a website to a Culinary Institute

It is certainly useful, thanks very much indeed; but if anyone has any more entries for their personal hit list or shit list, let me know. I'm kind of mid way through the piece and I've got a good range of places so far.

You can say that again. I need to write an "essay" to complete my "application" to post in the forums????
