Has anyone else subscribed to the Film channel (I think four or five movie channels in the package - Film 1, 2 & 3, Action & HD channels) from Ziggo? I took a subscription out on top of what I already received so I could get the ''News Package'' (of which BBC3 & 4 are included) and I have a trial period with all the other channels (about 200 in all at present I think). If anyone else is thinking about taking a subscription out to receive all the extra channels - don't waste your money - it's a load of old rubbish and the films are not worth staying in for either. I'm pleased I can now get BBC3 and 4 but the rest are not worth paying extra for. Just wondered what other subscribers thought of the choices?

We have the same package...and rarely move from the four BBC stations! Never watch the movie channels...no interest in Hollywood pictures and the foreign films I am interested in are subtitled in Dutch! I guess a good language lesson, lol.

I do like Nostalgienet. I think it should be required viewing in a inbuggering class as it really is a window into Dutch culture, news and history. And they speak in that "proper" accent so I can pick up a bit of the Dutch. I have Mr. Subtitles beside me to describe what's going on too... wink.gif

And he sometimes checks out Hilversumbest for the same reason. They showed the Eurovision competition from 1960 once, which was fascinating!

And you also get radio! Including BBC. Listening to BBC2 it right now, actually...

Can't complain as I would have paid over $100/month for the same crap in Canada, and would have watched it even less...But that being said, if we actually lived closer to civilization like you, we'd probably be out and about more and not be able to justify the cost.

Yes it's lovely having so many radio stations with great reception. I love the fact I can listen to BBC Radio 4 again and Arrow Jazz etc. I have looked at the Nostalgia TV - not too often - but some of the stuff on there is interesting. I did look at ''Family TV'' - have you seen that? It's a scream - most of the programmes are about twenty years old and feature religious stuff & lots of families gathered around singing - amusing for ten or twenty minutes. It's the BBC package that I am really pleased with and I do like Euro News too because you get to see what's going on all around the EEC. I was just hoping for a great film package and was disappointed when I actually received the channels.

We have the digital toal for 9.95 per month. My primary interest is ESPNAmerica. Got to watch USA hockey!!

We had film and sports trial. Dumped them. But we dumped SkyMovies also.

Film channels can only reflect what was in theatres a few months previous. And how many times did we think it was worth the effort to go out to watch a movie?

Film channels in general everywhere suck...I know my folks used to have the movie channels in Canada, but hardly ever watched them...

I have satellite TV and I watched in the past Canal+ (now Film1) and there were some good movies thereupon (spared me the effort of downloading them from Usenet and introduced me to films which I would probably not have wanted to download from Usenet).

Tomorrow (22-2-09), the Film1 channels will be unencrypted on Ziggo, so you can take a look and see what is there.

And, yes, at a certain time I had 500 channels I could watch (including paid film channels), but I felt they were boring.

It's true- movies have become so dire in the past few years....on Sky, there are older films and a classics channel, which is what I mainly watch if I'm looking for films- I guess I'm getting on a bit as I love watching Buster Keaton far more than any Will Smith movie tongue.gif

Wizard of Oz was on TCM yesterday...Dutchie had to drag me out of the house to go workout!

*sings* Whoa-wee-yoh...yohh-ho!*

Interestingly, he knows very little about that movie. He's never seen it. "Why is it all of a sudden in colour?" he asked. blink.gif

Funny what we take for granted!
