Hi, I am Anitha from Chennai, India.
I am planning to study in Netherlands. I came to know through a consultant that Avans University which is in Tilberg is quite good. Is it so?

I also have many queries running in my mind about scholarships, accommodation, part time jobs, on-campus jobs, how much I can earn?,
Will I be able to pay my fees, stay and food with what I earn? Are there many Indian girls studying over there?, Is that country safe for girls? Will there be job opportunities as soon as we finish our course? etc, etc...

I still have many questions, but right now I can only think of these.

I am very eager to study in Netherlands. But since I don't know anyone staying there I am a bit confused. I will be very happy and thankful if somebody helps me clear my doubts.

truly,
Anitha.

A scholarship at bachelor level is almost impossible to get (I don't know of any). Googled Avans and it's a hogeschool not a university (hogeschool is also known as university of applied sciences or university of technology).

Sorry to say but you will not be able to get a student visa unless you can prove you can afford to study here(I think you need to prove that you have around 700 euro a month in your bank account). Part-time jobs are difficult to get (for a foreign student) and will not pay well (certainly not enough to live). As a non-EU student, you are only allowed to work a maximum of 10 hours a week AND more importantly, your employer will have to apply for a work permit for you (easy to get in such cases but most employers will not bother as there are many EU nationals around).

Yes, The Netherlands is safe. Getting a job after graduation is possible. You are allowed to look for a job for one year after graduation (provided you can support yourself).

Accomodation- you can find rooms. Expect to pay 300 euro per month for your room. Even 1000 euro a month will not be sufficient, imho(rent-300 euro, tuition-360 euro if you study at a hogeschool, much more if you study at a university, food- 200 euro, health insurance-50 euro, textbooks-I paid about 700 euro last semester but it is possible to buy 2nd hand books-, transport, going out etc.).

Don't want to scare you but do try to make sure that you will have enough as quitting due to lack of funds is a very expensive thing to do(know a few people who had to leave school because of it)!

Perhaps you could try UK or Australia- there are more scholarships at bachelor level available .
