Hi

I wanted to travel back to India via London because of Cheap air tickets. I have residence card of Netherlands.

I got this following information on US Visa site.

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/doineedvisa/visadatvnationals

This seems to lit bit ambiguous information to me, as it says you should have D class visa for EEA state, which we got when we got our MVV from India.

So any body have traveled via London to India, on the basis of his Netherlands Residence card.
Please share you experience with me smile.gif

Hello there,

I travelled last year to India vai London from Holland with Indian passport and Netherlands residence permit card. You don't need any transit visa incase if you have a connected flight and you will not be staying more than 24 hours at airport.

Beyond that, when I moved last year. Due to the fog, my flight from Amsterdam was delayed and I missed connected flight. Hence, I was issued free 24 hours visa at airport without any problem.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Vikram for this info. but there was recent change in there law in June 2008,about D class visa in your passport and other stuff.

So if some body else who has traveled in recent times, I would be very happy, if he can share his experience

Hi vivek,

I travelled to Chennai last April, The only thing you need is your resident card of NL and your passport as always. You can not go outside of the airport(like transit and stay in London for some time, that requires Visa). but for your case you can go can change flight in London.
But I am not sure of the Airport transit like if you are arriving at London city airport and have to catch a flight in Heatrow. If that is the case confirm with the UK embassy.

One more thing during the period of travel if you resident card is expired they won't allow you board to London flight itself. so be sure that your Card is still valid until ur arrival in Netherlands back from India.

Why don't you just call british embassy for this? It is possible that you can also get this information from your travel agent (if any).

As far as I know, it should not be a problem but it is still better to collect details from embassy about this.

Good luck...

You don't need transit visa in London, if you are valid Eu resident and transit should not be more then 8 hours.

I just travelled last month via London
