A new group in Amsterdam :http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Amsterdam_Holistic_Culture_Group

Here the presentation:
In the very last few decades in general culture and science new ideas and new tendencies rose which diverged from the mainstream.
Books such as “A New Kind of Science” by Stephen Wolfram, “The Web of Life” and “The Tao of Physics” by Fritjof Capra suggest in different ways and in a different languages critics to the way modern sciences are built up and developed in academics.
Indeed the critics started inside academics because both Wolfram and Capra have been university professors in science departments of prestigious American universities but they developed their work on holism outside academics.
The “new theories” suggest new approaches to science which can be used also in fields where so far science and mathematics have reached little or no success to model and to explain phenomena, for instance in neuroscience, sociology, psychology and economy.
Phenomena in such fields, like many other fields, belonged to the class of complex systems which are the kernel of the new holistic approach. This approach watches at self consciousness as just an element of the theory itself, as a complex system rather than an external observer like in the mainstream science.
Many answer to old problems are coming up to the horizon as well as new questions.
In this approach unsuspected connections between cultures, sciences and religions of different ages and regions look like natural.
Finally in the holistic culture the every day personal experiences of a person, the good ones and the bad ones, are deeply connected with all phenomena of the universe in their patterns and dynamics.
Holism come from the Greek word “holos” which means all, because this approach wants to see the connections of all things in one united structure.
This group has been created to gather people who are interested in all this in order to share and to confront opinions as well as to inform each other of new books, magazines and websites.
