I've never liked either of them.
I find them both arrogant and pretentious who try desperately to be funny.
Friday Night with Jonathon Ross makes me cringe, the stupidity of his questions and him sucking up to celebs makes me sick.
They should both be fired.
Canucky Woman
Russell has made me laugh in the past, but never could stand Jonathon.

But they both get paid way too much for doing not too much don't they? And that's probably why they start thinking they're more invinsible and above it all than they actually are...

I'd rather watch Graham Norton's show anyday...Not as much shmoozing and much funnier.

I wish the general public would vote with their remote controls and show them how unfunny they actually are. That would be more effective than firing, I think...

Anybody who leaves messages on ansaphones making cheap comments about sleeping with anyones granddaughter or whoever deserves several really hard punches in the mouth.
Its even way below schoolboy humour.
It surprises me how these talentless nitwits become so popular.
And their 'one of the lads/cheeky chappie/rough diamond/lovable rogue' posturing is really irritating.

And while we're on the subject - Jeremy Clarkson is in roughly the same league of complete knobheads.

I like Graham Norton very much.

I seem to be in the minority here but I think they are both the most interesting, funny and intelligent presenters we had in the UK.

The Daily Mail (a rapid right wing newspaper) had a hate campaign against Ross months before this happened and then moved to Russell Brand.

When this show was first broadcast it had 2 complaints. When the Mail on Sunday got hold of the story a week later it received thousands of complaints - no doubt from the righteous middle class job worths lot who feed into all the right wing propaganda the Mail publishes.

In the present credit climate and the fact the UK has a labour government, which of course the Mail is going to try and discredit; they did a great job of the old fashion witch hunt, with people baying for blood like savages. People need scape goats when the economy takes a down turn and this was a prime example. I found it revolting and sickening to listen to the likes of Michael Parkinson trash Ross after he appeared on his show only the week before telling him what a fantastic interviewer he was, whilst plugging his book.

All the ranting and raving about TV licence money being wasted – what a load of rubbish! The BBC consistently has high quality TV and radio programmes and is regarded highly for its news reporting.
Of course the Mail also perceives the BBC as a left wing corporation and will do anything to bring it to its knees – leaving the Blimp types who enjoy The Bill and other low key badly acted programmes we all know on ITV on a Sunday.

I only hope all the money that poor innocent Georgina received from the right wing newspaper The Sun went some way to ease her disappointment of being dumped by Russell Brand – which I’m sure was the driving force behind all this.

They are overpaid public figures who took a childish, cheap shot by leaving ansafone messages about shagging someones grand daughter...if you think thats funny - fine.
Personally,I think its a bit nasty and creepy.
They themselves even admitted they overstepped the mark.

The Labour Party haven't been 'left wing' for years....
And the BBC are nowhere near as diverse as they used to be,having said that, they are still the best.

I agree,

They were complete moron's well before this incident. I think this just confirms what most people already thought. How they got a job in the first place is beyond me.

I'd be more more interested to learn exactly how many of the complainers had actually LISTENED to the original broadcast (or even the sensationalist specially-edited highlights).

I'll bet it's nowhere near 100%. Or even 5%.

(and hasn't poor insulted little Georgina been quick to capitalise upon her new-found fame in order to promote her awful band).

I don't think much of Russell Brand's type of humour but find Jonathan Ross quite funny on his TV show, though sometimes a bit irritatingly/embarrassingly cringy. I'm surprised Jonathan Ross hasn't resigned too though to be honest...

Wesley, J. Ross has the highest viewing figures of any show on the BBC - that includes his radio programme and TV show - and many many people have complained about his show being taken off the air. R. Brand resigned because he's got far bigger fish to fry with his career - he is now in the States rehearsing for a Shakespeare film with Helen Mirren so I can't think he's particularly bothered about this debacle.

I watched the visual of the recording in question on Youtube to enable me to form my own opinion. Truly infantile and twelve year old schoolboyish. I battled to get past the hysteria from both of them, but laboured on. Pathetic. Jonathan Ross used to be funny when he was on They Thinks it Over, and when his talk show started but he has now become a dirty old man. The way he leers at women and tries to get them to discuss their sex lives is disgusting. He should realise he is approaching 50 and should not try and compete with the foul mouthed utterings that passes for humour from his younger rivals.

If you want to see something to make you cringe then Brand doing Shakespeare should do the trick!

I don't see how anyone can defend/like either of these guys.

Why can't you see?

Did you listen to the R. Brand radio show every week? Did you watch the documentary he did for the BBC? Have you watched Ponderland on Channel 5? Did you read his book? Please, if you did, enlighten me why you have these opinions? Surely not based on a few minutes clip on UTube?

Russell Brand is one of the most intelligent conversationist I have ever listened to due to his superior command of the english language - so please if you have to get on the band wagon with the other's baying for blood give me some more evidence.

Why? they are un-likeable people

Of course I haven't listened to his radio show every week or read his book. You call him an "intelligent conversationist" (I think you mean conversationalist) yet his humour appeals to those with close to zero intelligence. E.G. his role in that movie.

Anyway I think the issue is more about them over-stepping the mark than anything else, and you can't argue against that. Even he admitted that.

I've no doubt... J. Ross can be quite a funny and informative guy (particularly when it comes to films and TV shows and the people that star in them), just sometimes I've watched him on his TV show where I've felt like cringing with embarrassment. I've not listened to his radio show at all, apart from the few recent clips that have recently come out. I haven't heard of any complaints about the show being taken off.
I thought I heard R. Brand say he resigned because of the recent mess he got himself in... I expect he'd still be there otherwise.
Ultimately, there has to be a line... and they both crossed it as far as I can see.

They are un-likeable people to you - for millions they aren’t, as supported by the rating on the TV and radio shows. Brand’s book was top of the best seller’s list for weeks so obviously somebody must have bought it.

Very sorry for the spelling mistake – I’m very quickly typing this at work and mistakes are inevitable.

I have considerably more than zero intelligence (a remark I would consider more suitable to a child than an adult).

What you mean by referring to his role in the film I have no idea – do you mean the most recent film he made with Adam Sandler or his upcoming film?

They didn’t have any choice to go public and say they had overstepped the mark – but if you had bothered to watch anything Brand had done previously you would know he always oversteps the mark and this wasn’t a one off.

The fact is the Mail on Sunday exposed it and needed blood, which they had been waiting to get for months. I detest witch hunts with crowds screaming for revenge. It appeals to the lowest common denominator.

There's probably no point continuing this argument, you like him, I dont. Reeling off all this info about best sellers and ratings isn't going to change that.

Maybe the fact that he always oversteps the mark was one of the reasons the Mail needed blood, as did all the other people with my view of Brand and Ross. Unfortunately for them, this time they overstepped the mark and they copped what most believe they deserved. Too bad.

Oh and btw, millions buy crap newspapers, crap music,so WTF has popularity got to do with anything.

I was only defending what I saw as a grossly unfair 'ganging' up on some entertainers which nobody, as far as I can see, has even bothered to follow, whether it be on TV or radio. Stupid, childish comments about people they have no idea about, except for a few minutes on UTube.

That's why I get upset - this mob mentality ready to condemn and preach.

I suspect that some people are terribly threatened by Brand and have to lash out with nasty little name calling ...

To end this pointless debate I, for one, will dearly miss Brand's radio programme and was the one highlight on my i-pod - the only programme to make me laugh out loud.
