Howdy folks!

Burned CDs with burned music from the Internet. I have TONS of them. Would I get in trouble at the border bringing these into NL? I heard some guy who had illegal dvds, was refused entry and therefore residence permit was denied because it apparently is a "crime."

Thanks in advance!

Not that I would EVER dream of having burned music, especially not that which came from the internet...but in case I had advice it would be this.

I know a certain someone (ahem, cough) who had all of her possessions shipped from the US, including 100s of burned cds, through the postal service and customs, and had nary a problem. Also, this person might have brought a large quantity of such cds through the plane because those cds were still being used up until the day of the move. I myself have never heard of such a thing being a problem, because of all the things they are concerned about I don't think burned cds are a high priority. Also, there is no way of knowing they might have come from the internet.

Actually, of all the boxes I shipped from the US to Amsterdam, not a one was actually opened and inspected by customs. Not that it would have mattered, I moved all of my photos and books and clothes this way, but still, was surprised to get to the other side and find them untampered with.

Best of Luck!

Are you shipping them or carrying in luggage? Because I've never had my luggage checked coming in this direction. The other way is a different story, especially if you have a stopover in the US. Homeland Security drives me crazy. You can always say the CD's are copies of ones that you own. Just didn't want to damage them on the flight wink.gif

A Dutch friend of mine was returning from Thailand for Queen's Day. Prior to that he asked me what size and colours of Lacoste polo-shirts I wanted. Well, I'll take a couple I said - only through politeness, as I hate thinking I'm wearing fake goods. He replied that he'd get them, unpack them and crumple them up a wee bit before packing his luggage, as at Schiphol, he said, they were pretty vigilant regarding fakes and counterfit goods coming in.

I haven't heard that at all. I've flown maybe a dozen times in the last couple of years into Schiphol (and Brussels) with CD/DVDs, new electronics and my favourite Canadian icewines, with no problems. Perhaps its the origin of the flight and nationality of the passenger!?!? Or maybe I have an honest face laugh.gif

Yes, Thailand is a place where loads of fake stuff originates from, not that I'm interested in buying any of it as it's generally crap. I got stopped at Schipol coming from Bangkok one year and they did a thorough search of everything... then the next year they just asked where I came from without bothering. You'll never know what they'll do. Element of surprise...

huh.gif What's wrong with burned music (or even films) from the Internet? I buy mine legally through iTunes (and I can prove it) and am allowed to legally make copies...

I agree with Wickerman. I hate the idea of wearing anything "fake" and to be honest, I cannot understnd that so many people seem to jump on the occasion to buy such crap whenever they can. IMO they should be fined onehundredfold at least!

Hiya!
It's nice that you buy yours "legally." Reality is though, most of us don't. smile.gif

I prefer the genuine thing if I intend keeping it... have recently got into torrents though, but still prefer the genuine thing if I'm keeping it.
