Hi friends,

I am into 4th month of pregnancy. I am working; my work involves close to 3 hrs of travel time (to and fro).

Is it possible for me to quit my current job after availing the pregnancy leave? Basically, I would like to work till the end of the 8th month of pregnancy after which I have to go on pregnancy leave by law. By law I have 4 months of this leave.

Am I bound by law to resume office after these 4 months of pregnancy leave or after these 4 months I can resign from my current job?

If anyone of you have an idea about this or can refer me to a website or so I would be highly grateful.

Thanks in advance!
austincandy
do you want to continue to be paid by the company while on 'leave'? if not, there's nothing stopping you.

yes of course i would like to know if i can get the paid maternity leave and then quit. otherwise as u said i can always quit. but the thinkg that i am interested is that if i work till the end of 8th month i must be entitled for a paid maternity leave and after the maternity leave am i obliged to return to work or i can quit my job straightaway?

Well, I think what you are trying to do is a bit unethical, actually. Most jobs have a standard notice period(check your contract or the employee handbook). For indefinite contracts its normally one month. So, then probably you could give your one month notice period before your maternity leave is up and not have to go back to work. But its an abuse of the system.
