.. after my woefully misjudged recommendation over the Burger 'Tent' at Muiderpoort Station I would normally be a little apprehensive of 'serving up' another Burger 'Tent' suggestion. However, this place - located at Kolksteeg 2 (between the Damrak and the Nieuwendijk - was recommended to me, it's ALWAYS packed and it ROCKS!!!

By Dutch standards one of the better burgers in town,by US standards(west coast only, good ones are rare in the east) a high 6 out of ten.Haven't been there in six months ,at the time the burger was fine ,but the fries were greasy and somewhat undercooked. If I was in a real burger mood I'd go out of my way to get one here, but if you need fries either walk to Mannequin Pis(sp?) on the Damrak or down a little further toward the Munt ,there's a little place on Voetboogstraat(an alley off Heiligeweg) that is really outstanding.Don't remember the name ,but it's take out only and a real dump-just look for the lines.

Burger Bar have introduced Kobi Beef Burgers to their repertoire, but at 8 Euro something for a small burger I baulked at the price. However, on a typical visit, after 20+ Heinekens and Two Packs of Luckies would I really be able to tell the difference over their ground-up chud-fed Friese-born cousins' flesh? I think not! wink.gif

That said, having never sampled their fries I can only agree with your recommendation that the Manneken Pis IS a good place for REAL Vlaamse Frietjes ... personally speaking, best accompanied by their green pepper sauce. smile.gif

I wonder if it's really Kobe beef?Seems a bit of a waste to make a burger out of it,but at eight euros I suspect it's something else or a mix.Steaks are routinely 150-200 euros per kilo.(And from the on time I've tried it ,not worth it)The green pepper sauce sauce sounds interesting, will give it a try next time I'm in the center.
