Fluency in Dutch and English necessary.
Performance ensemble working on an exciting project focused on non-experimental multi-sensual experiences seeks a producer/manager for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. Duties will include: developing friendships with artists and musicians, building a staff and support network, scheduling rehearsals, organizing parties, funding, reserving venues and equipment, and more.
Ideally, you will be the right hand to the artistic director’s left – creatively developing a strong social, organizational and financial backbone that can generate income and growth with minimal artistic compromise. Imagination, the ability to build strong friendships, and a strong desire to achieve is a must, as is the ability to work closely with the artistic director and the performers. For this reason the candidate must either reside in or near The Hague.
Compensation – Initially a volunteer position, your work will become financially compensated once the ensemble begins generating income, which will in part depend on your dedication. Otherwise, the opportunity to develop close friendships with interesting people, expanding your knowledge of the arts, and being involved in a truly unique and exciting project from the ground floor are some of the immediate benefits.
Skills – Must be intelligent, honest, and creative. Fluency in Dutch and English a must, which includes strong writing skills. Previous production experience and fund/grant writing experience preferable but not necessary. A knowledge of the Dutch arts-funding landscape would be a tremendous benefit to this group. The option of building a staff to perform tasks is available but would need to be done immediately.
Ideal for: Someone who possesses the aforementioned qualities and who has enough time to invest in a joint adventure into new artistic territory – whose financial situation is independently stable enough, allowing them to throw themselves in and build something great without threat to their personal welfare.
