Hello expats from Canada!
My name is Kim Neervens and I'm a student at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, here in the Netherlands. For a project about Culture and Economics I am looking for persons I can interview about being an expat in the Netherlands. It will take about an hour of your time. If you want to help me out, or want more information first, please reply here or send me an email: kimneervens@yahoo.com.
Thanks everybody!

Interesting. There's always somebody wanting to interview expats from North America.
LOADS of people conducting studies about expats from North America. Somebody always wants to ask them questions. You researcher types should meet up, have a beer together and compare notes.
Meanwhile, immigrants from North America and elsewhere beyond Turkey and Morocco are ignored...I assume because people think we don't exist.
You'd be surprised how many of the so-called "expats" on this forum are actually immigrants who didn't move here for a job but rather for a Dutch partner...I think it would make for an interesting study in itself.

First of all: the fact that I would like to interview expats, is because that is the topic of my course. That doesn't mean that I am not interested in immigrants, from North America, as well as from anywhere else. I study cultural anthropology, so I am interested in cultures from all over the world. If you take a look around some of the other fora, you will see that I have posted my request at the fora for different parts of the world. But in this course the focus lies on expats, so that's why I posted a request on Expatica, a site for expats.
I hope I have made my intentions a little more clear here. So I still hope that there are some expats here who would like to help me with my research. Even though I'm not the first (and maybe not the last) who conducts this kind of research.

That a cultural anthropology program wouldn't have a course about immigrants is rather short-sighted.
Unless of course they do...but since we have never had somebody on this forum ask for an immigrant's opinion, how would we know?

Ofcourse we do have courses on immigrants. But you don't have to interview people for every course, and even then, there are different places to find informants. So maybe nobody ever thought about this place to find informants.
But to get back to my original question: if there are persons from Canada that would like to help out, by letting me interview them. Maybe you yourself, Canucky Woman? Then we could also talk more about my course and education.

I'm not an expat. I'm an immigrant.

Kim, I'm quite sure Canadians are helpful. After all, they did liberate the Swamp didn't they ? However, I can understand they feel bored when receiving the Xth request for an interview... Maybe you should look elsewhere?

Wow, I can't believe the level of rudeness on this post. I'm ashamed. Perhaps some of you have been living here too long. Kim, I would help, but I am also an immigrant.
