I'm fairly new to this so thought I would give it a try. My name's Stephanie and I'm 23. I moved over to The Hague from the UK in February to be with my boyfriend who was relocated with his job 11 months ago.

To be fair, the move hasn't been as easy as I first expected. I'm finding it hard to get used to dutch culture and just meeting female friends in general. I was therefore planning on arranging an evening out in The Hague, for drinks, a giggle and a girlie chat with anybody who would be interested. If you fancy it, get in touch

Just wondering if you ever got anywhere with this..did the drinks thing ever happen..are you still in Den Haag? How's it going? I too moved here in Feb and am finding the adjustments difficult so would be interested to hear of your experiences to date. I'm irish, my boyfriend is dutch. Would love to hear of any places, groups etc you may have come across that you found helpful.

Unfortunately...nope... I've had no luck with this at all. People don't seem to like the sound of me ;-) (Just kidding). Anyway, I haven't really had any luck with groups, etc, because I haven't been to any. A few people have told me that they're all a bit 'Hi, my name's Stephanie and I'm from...' which is not what I'm really looking for... I just want some girlie friends I can have a laugh and a chat with, you know? Somebody who you can go shopping with, drink with, have coffee with, the usual girlie things...

I haven't really made any friends and have found it so hard, but I feel like I'm starting to adjust, albeit very very slowly! I do think the language can be a big barrier though, as it limits your network to expats only. I'm hoping to go on a dutch language course in September, fingers crossed!

Tell me a bit about yourself and whereabouts in the Hague you're living - perhaps we can meet up for a drink and a chat or something? I know I could certainly do with the female company. Have you tried joining the Legal Aliens in Den Haag? It's mostly expats, and free to join.
They organize regular drinks and dinners. Maybe you can meet some gals that way.

Well, I'm Brittany, 20 years old, I moved here from Ohio and I live in Den Haag. I'm having a pretty awful time. I'm very, very homesick and having a really hard time adjusting. I come from a small village with 1,000 people in it, so the city is really scary to me. (I sound like a little kid for cripes sakes..)
