Whew! Obama stomped Hillary in all three Democratic contests yesterday, beating Clinton by more than 2-1 in Washington state and Nebraska, and by 21 points in Louisiana. According to Associated Press delegate count projections, the candidates are within spittin' distance of each other: Clinton with 1095, Obama with 1070. This is nerve-wracking. In a good way.

I also saw some interesting press coverage - the obama supports were chanting:

YES WE CAN....

The Hillary support were chanting -HIL-LAR-Y

Which just goes to show me that what Obama has started is a movement... No matter what happens I hope this movement for change will not stop!

I also read an article about voters in Virginia - apparently they can vote either republican or democrat in the primaries - because McCain seems to be a shoe in in Virginia, a lot of republicans are going to vote for Hillary in the primaries because they consider her easiest for McCain to beat. If I remembered the numbers correctly in a race between Obama and McCain - Obama has a 6 point lead....

So all I have to say is......

YES WE CAN!

IF the nomination goes to Hilary because of the Super delegates (Who are SOLIDLY in her corner Im sad to say) I will be 5 kinds of pissed off!

Obama is STOMPING Hilary with a lead of 62 REAL delegates, but Clinton has 224 to his 135 super delegates.
IF it's the super delegates that select Hilary in the end, I fear for our party and any semblance of REAL democracy in our party, and our country.

I swear it FEEL like they are just TRYING to make up reasons for me to be MORE ashamed to be an American every day!

* and company is bad enough, it's even worse with the spineless congress that we had, and everything else!

I hope and pray for a democratic sweep, even more that the Dems (new) that are elected are very liberal!
For the record I consider myself a REAL centrist, meaning a bit of each to keep in the stable middle is necessary.
Going far far far far left would ONLY bring us BACK to the MIDDLE, not the USSR like the RW nutters would have us believe.
Strong unions, and a guarantee of health care for ANYONE working, is what MADE the 50's and 60's the strong economy it was!

oh well it's a silly little dream I have.

It’s over.

Obama got to the far left faster than Hillary did. He out-organized her, out-fundraised her, out-speechified her, out-hustled her, out-dressed her, and out-presidentialed her. He outbid Hillary for votes, one promised government check at a time. His 17-point margin of victory in Wisconsin was incredible. It says he can’t be stopped.

Obama-man is the Gorbachev that America needs. He'll let things fall apart nice and easy like. Unlike that PTSD nutball McCain.

Hello everyone! im new here, actually this is my 1st post. rolleyes.gif

According to the news, Obama won yesterday the 11th streak victory on the primaries, this time the voters were the democrats living abroad. He got 65,7% of the votes, while Clinton had 32,6%. In stake were only 7 delegates, however it shows that Obama is on the road to the White House... Obama has now 1351 delegates and Clinton 1262. Texas is just in a coupple of weeks...

I trully hope he means what he says on his great speeches, because if he does, America will finally have a president that they can be proud of. I believe him. There's something about this guy. Or he is a great man or he's the world's fake. I rather believe in the first.

I agree with kevin1971 ...

IT'S OVER!

Obama will take the Democratic nomination and that's all she wrote! YEYYYYYYYYY!!!! laugh.gif

He inspires me. I adore him.

I think I may be in love.

He has my heart, my mind, and he's even in my wallet (I gave him 50 bucks).

Obama is where he is because of Republican money, they do not want Hilery in there, they know she will go after Bush and Cheny. also I think a few of his advisers are also Republicans. But dont count Hilery out yet. There are many who are not ready for a black man yet. what we need is experiance in the White House in these stressed times. He is going to have a hard enough time finding his way around the White House, let along deal with all the problems that have to be addressed. McCain may well slide right in also, he may be old but there is a big chunk of voters you have not heard from till election day. Also what you have is Republicans voting in his corner in these states, dont you find it a little odd how great the turn out has been for him?

Republicans want Hillary. They think they can beat her because she has high negative ratings with the people.

Bias. Racism. He will be able to deal with the problems just as well as any other president has.

McCain has two problems. He is pro-war ("100 more years") and the majority of the people are not. And he, by his own admission, knows nothing about economics in a country where the people feel the #1 problem is the economy.

So Obama wins. By default if nothing else.

Obama will go after Bush and Cheney too. And polls show Hillary being far less credible against McCain than Obama is.

And Hillary has no more real world experience than Obama, because being First Lady is not a position of power. Unless of course I'm to believe she was the real power behind the throne of Bill, which is both ridiculous and against the Constitution.

As far as McCain's 'great turnout' it has been consistently far less than that of people voting for Obama.

At some point you just have to lose the pessimism. Talking to myself here.

Obama is not super-human, but he is human, and every now and then when the stars line up, and the people are properly focused and prepared, a human comes along and does super-human things. Obama talks about change. If everyone on the planet who desires change in the U.S. AND the world rallies behind Obama and projects onto him their highest expectations, then Obama may have no choice but to deliver. In the end, it may not matter really who the person is, but what our expectations are. The person may just be a symbol, a lightning rod to receive a certain energy.

I look at Obama and I see someone who is OPEN to receiving that energy. And he looks like someone who can handle it too.

The whole world will be watching this election.

I assure you any one who can make me feel proud to be an American after seven years of the Bush administration posseses super human abilitlies.

I thought it impossible as well. I thought that part of me had died, but no it was just languishing.

I'll put my support behind hope this one more time. Yes we can.

I'm right next to ya Kevin! He has touched my heart and wallet too. He has given me HOPE for our country and it's future. I don't want to hide my passport in shame anymore, I want to be the proud American I once was. YES WE CAN!!

I agree with all the pro-Obama comments. Now if we can keep Hillary from stealing it. Yes, I said steal.

Damn, I was hoping this thing would be over this morning in Obama's favor.

Hillary Clinton wins Texas? I find it hard to believe.
kevin1971
seems like it. by 2%. hardly a stunning victory.
utakubeta
it keeps her realistically in the race.
At this point imho, she's fighting for super delegates. Theres enough in the wings to swing it one way or the other, and my fear is it'll bethe super delegates (and diebold) that wins this for her, and not anything we pisant voters do.

On the up side this makes states that are normally ignored in past years(YES California WAS IGNORED, because our primary was so late, it no longer mattered when it happened) are finally getting coverage. With Texas showing what a 5 way from Sunday fucked up system they have, maybe the shame and embarrassment will force them to use a system that has a bit more sense in it! not holding my breath however, Texas is...well... Texas, stupid and proud of it!

I don't actually have anything against HRC, but in the general election IF she wins (yeah IF) it'll be by a much smaller margin than if Obama runs. She is THE DEVIL according to the gop and reich wing, and a horribly polarizing figure.

I think she's probably capable enough, but the Dems really need a big win, and I dont really think she can pull that off.

Obama fills people with hope, and that is something my country desperately needs. HOPE does not fill the coffers, but it sure as hell makes one work harder if they believe it'll matter.

*plink plink* my two cents.
PanatellaFred
I agree about Hillary. She's divisive. She always has been. McCain can beat Hillary. But he would be slaughtered against Obama. And no electronic voting fraud would be able to hide it.

Does anyone know of a group that supports Senator Obama in Amsterdam? I'm trying to find one and would like to know if anyone has organized a picture for the bridge project?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Obama said in a speech that Iran poses the biggest threat to Israel.
Oh dear - does that mean the US are still gunning for Iraq?

I still believe in Obama. Do I have a choice? Maybe he is doing and saying what is necessary to get into power. You just have to keep hope alive sometimes- and I believe this is one of those times.

There were heroes in our recent past - Gandhi, Martin Luther King. There will be heroes now and in the future too.

Fred, do you REALLY believe Obama will CHANGE anything in US foreign policy? Of course he wont, because he's slipping more and more to the RIGHT... What a pity!

He has no choice but to shift to the right as more people examine his previous voting record. He has generally voted to the left, and the current population in the US is very distrustful of anything "left".Unfortunatly he has shifted so far that he recently voted in favor of the FISA bill, which among other things supported Bushies wiretapping policy. In short ,you're right Obama will bend to the prevailing wind and the US will continue it's very sad decline.

I have to believe that he will change things. What choice do I have? I have a little bit of heart left to be broken, so I'll put it out there this one last time. If he turns out to be an empty suit, licking the shoes of the true owners of that country, then I'll give up completely and shake the dirt off my shoes. One last time Emilio! We'll never really know what he's made of until he takes office.

He voted in favor of the FISA bill, which would be considered despicable in a normal democracy, but Obama is living in crazy land. I think he's smart enough to see the landscape and figure a way to navigate it to the presidency. After becoming president he can get rid of that bill, restore Habeas Corpus, close Guantanamo, outlaw torture etc.. Maybe he's doing whatever it takes to take the helm of that madhouse. ??

I still believe there are heroes now and in the future. People who truly place a cause above themselves. If it ain't Obama then it's already over IMO.
