On the Democrats Abroad website is the total number of democrats they claim to represent: 7 million. In the primary, this translates to 11 delegates. (and only 4 of these are unpledged delegates).
In contrast: New York has a population of 18,976,457. Assuming about 30% are registered democrats (I couldn't find the exact number), that would be about 5.5 million democrats. At the convention, however, New York gets 280 delegates.
So, for Democrats Abroad, 7 million dems get 11 votes.
For New York, 6 million dems get 280 votes.
Please tell me my data is (grossly) wrong here. It doesn't seem that a New Yorker's vote should be 30 times more important than an expat's vote.
