Understand the system which is ok which you need to work a year first to build up holiday pay for the next year, which means in your first year on a Belgian contract you get no holiday pay.
My company told me no problem as during the summer shutdown for 2 weeks I could claim from the hulpkass as in effect with the factory closed I was unemployed for that period.
All the forms completed etc sent in then a long tail of lost forms re-sent delays different reasons for not paying out it just goes on things like the UK paid your holiday pay for 2007 from your 2006 wages etc,if you were from France/Germany we would pay you.
The hulpkass proved very unhelpful, never contacting me -they gotonto my employer in the end who told me to stop chasing the hulpkass as it was not helping.......
The problem is the hulpkass will not agree to the fact that UK do not run a holiday pay system like here in Belgium paying for the following year.So I receive no pay at all for the shutdown period.
My company even tell me in the first year i fact I do not even quailify for unpaid holidays in Belgium
Anybody had a similar problem or any advice surely this cannot be correct, how do & to whom do I make a complaint about the hulpkass
