Increasingly, many single professionals with a successful career lack a good way to find that special someone to share their life with. They typically have very limited time for social activities to meet new and interesting people. Expatica SpeedDate is a great alternative to the time-consuming, superficial bar scene and the agonising blind date. It provides you a structured opportunity to meet your soul mate, or at least have a great night out.

Upon arrival, you will receive a welcome drink and a list of the singles you will meet that evening. Once the dating starts, you will have three minutes to find a click with each single of the opposite sex. After each session, the guys move on for the next dating round. You can then indicate whether you’d like to stay in touch with your date by marking them on your list. After 25 dates, you'll have the opportunity to socialize with everyone over a drink (or two).

On Saturday 30 January, Expatica is organising a cooking event. We start you off slowly with a Prosecco, but then it's time to roll up your sleeves and cook an Italian dinner together! Besides 19 other internationals, an experienced chef is at hand to help out with tips and tricks.

First on the task list / menu are antipasti, which can be anything from shrimp wraps to chick pea cookies. Once you get the hang of these, the chef has a new challenge for you: making ravioli from scratch. To keep you going through all this, 3 drinks will be served during the 3-hour workshop.

We can only invite 20 peopleto this event, so make sure that you RSVP quickly!

Everyone will be welcomed with a drink and entrée, in between and after which the gentlemen will move on to share the next course with a new group of single ladies. Following the same pattern, the main course will be served after the gents have made their way to a new setting and finally the desert can be enjoyed with the last group you have yet to meet.

Over the course of the night, you will meet 15 singles of the opposite sex and on the matching sheet provided, you can note down who you would like to meet again. At the end of the evening, hand in your sheet to the host. If the feeling is mutual, we will send out contact details to both parties … and you can take it from there!

You will be welcomed with a Cava to get in the mood to socialise with other singles. When the champagne flutes are empty, the first South African wine is served by a true wine connoisseur. After learning more about this white wine, we leave you to taste and enjoy it. You may also discuss your experiences with the others and write down your findings on the tasting forms available.

From South Africa, we move on France for the second white wine. The two red wines that follow come from Australia and South Africa respectively. Each wine is paired with a delicious appetizer.

The wine mixer is closed with a dessert wine and a chocolate bonbon.

After each wine, you can move freely to join a new group of singles, ensuring you will have met all singles of the opposite sex in a stress-free setting.

Afterwards, you may even wish to have dinner and get to know any particular someone you may have happened upon with another glass or two... We will arrange a table at a nearby restaurant just in case.

Expatica will connect all guests via a private Facebook group after the event ... and you can take it from there!
