Hello,
Are there any girls out there who are interested in making friends(if it's possible in Amsterdam) and have a good time together? My name is Ayu and I moved to Holland from Japan to be with my boyfriend but am having a hard time finding any friends in Amsterdam to exchange thoughts and feelings with, having lived here for over a year now.
Sometimes I get the feeling that the Dutch don't like Japanese people (only their food, I guess) and that they are pretty biassed about other countries' people. I am always a bit scared when dealing with the Dutch. It's not that I do not want to meet any Dutch people, just my experience has not been so good so far. That's why I'm looking for friends who are living here as an expat too.
I'm a quite active funny girl, 24 years old and would consider myself a kind person with an open mind and heart.
Looking forward to hearing from you!! Ayu

Hi Ayu,

I live in Arnhem which is quite a distance away from Amsterdam but let me know if you'd like to meet up sometime. I studied in Gifu-ken for a year and I can see that Dutch and Japanese culture are completely opposite!

Hi,Mei!
Thanks for your reply.
Yeah,of course! It would be nice,if we can meet sometime.
Do you come to Amsterdam sometimes??!
I think I've been to Arnhem before. But,it was just passing by car, when I went to Germany..
Wow!! You've been to Gifu-ken before.
That's cooool! How did you like it? I've never been to there. But,I think there are some interesting places in Gifu.
My home town is in Nagasaki-ken.But,I was living in Fukuoka-ken for 3years before I moved to here.
Yes,my culture is really different from Dutch...
So,I'm trying to learn their culture..But,it's not so easy.....

I do sometimes go to Amsterdam but very seldom.

Haha I've been to Nagasaki! I lived with this wonderful Japanese family in Miyazaki-ken for a few days and we went to Nagasaki, Mount Aso and Fukuoka!

Can you speak Dutch?

That's really coool!
Even you had a host family in Miyazaki and visited to Nagasaki with them.
Nagasaki had a good relationship with Holland before,I mean long long time ago..

Well,I can't speak Dutch..it's very hard for me to pronounce...
I hope I can meet someone who can teach me Dutch someday...
By the way, where are you from??

<Wow, it is such a relief to know that I am not alone here>
Hello Ayu, Mei, Ayako and Karina,
My name is Rebecca, I just moved to Amsterdam 2 days ago, so I am totally new to this city. I am currently staying at the Bastion Hotel near Schiphol, but will move to Osdorp end of the month. It would be great if any of you would like to meet up with me. I don't really speak Japanese, but I love Sushi! I am a Malaysian, I speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and some basic German. I am planning to look for a part-time job here and would like to enrol myself in the University (not sure which Uni yet) here, next year's intake maybe.
Looking forward to hear from you!

Rebecca

Something's wrong with the messaging system so just in case you girls didn't get my message,

a bunch of us might be meeting up on Thursday in central Amsterdam. Send me a PM (hopefully it'll work) or if not, just post here with your contact details and I'll get back to you asap!

Hey everybody!!

I'm in the same boat - my name's Stephanie and I moved to The Netherlands 4 months ago to be with my boyfriend, who got relocated with his job. I've found it hard to make any real friends so it would be great to meet up with some people smile.gif

I'm living in The Hague but work in Amsterdam so both areas are good for me.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Yuffie,

My name's Steph - saw your message on Expatica. I'm living in The Hague but working in Amsterdam so would be willing to meet up there :-)

I'm 24, moved over here in February, into bars, clubs, shopping, lunching, cinema... the usual.

Let me know if you fancy a drink sometime.

Speak soon

Steph xxx
