Hi jennieinbelgium,
I am not going to be any help, because I am in Canada and I've never been to Belgium. But I am interested to see the responses you get, because I am doing an international marketing course, and I chose to market Butter Tarts to Belgium. I've had a difficult time getting information on the markets there. Let me know if you find Butter Tarts.
Cheers!

I have found it .... but it is not always the same place. Twice I have found it at a booth at the AWCB sale (this week-end) in Waterloo and then once I have found it at Stonemanor. Hope that helps!

They have it in the store Dille en Kamille, also some larger Carrefour stores have an international aisle, you could check there.

I've made a special shopping trip to Costco in the UK to pick some of the "essentials" ... picked up a really big jug of maple syrup for about EUR 15-20 (and complete pancake mix) that should last about 6 months.

My Canadian / US Costco membership card worked just fine and we'll definitely make more trips in the future. I wouldn't dare try bringing it from home for fear of destroying everything in my luggage.

I've found a couple places here in Gent, so I assume you can find them in most of the same chain shops. The Match has fence-post syrop for an uberly fun price of about €9 per bottle. The Delhaize (spelling?) has real maple syrop for about 5-6 euros, the bottle is smaller, but hey, it's real.

Since the original post was made in 2007, probably not much help, but maybe some new comer will be dieing for something home like. I just miss having poutine...
