Guys,
I moved and started work a couple of wks in BE. And I'm about to preparing my application docs for the Special Tax status (Still trying to persuade my employer to invite tax consultant firm). Once I read information booklet (from Ernst & Young), it says that the application process could take 1~2 years. Is it true? I have an initial contract for two years... How long did you guys take between submitting application and granting the status? -------------------- No signature here

My experience is that it usually takes 1 to 2 years, depending on whether your file is being investigated in depth. The problem is that the Belgian tax authorities are not bound by a specific deadline...
The special tax status can however already be applied in your tax return without having received the formal acceptance, but in case of refusal you will loose all the benefits claimed (travel exclusion, tax free allowances). Tico. |
